Yah it's the research that munches up the Crystal. Impulse engine2 requires 8000 crystal and impulse 3 is required for colony ships!

I only have about 10K crystal right now so I'm look at 6 hours before my lv 10 mine cranks enough out. Then 8 hours to research. So probably tommorrow before I'll have any info on colonization.
BTW the 8 hour time is with a lv2 robo factory.
This is my uni 3 planet which I started about 5 days before the uni 8 one.

blimey, i havem't even got impulse one yet, need to start saving!
