The garbage chute gets rid of garbage.
For whoever takes 12HI, I'm putting an interstate connection in on the end of that peninsula, since it's the only place I can connect on that side of the tile."In the beginning was the Word. Then came the ******* word processor." -Dan Simmons, Hyperion

Chute chute chute!
In a trial run on my city I found that the ferries caused unbearable lag I think it's something to do with the pathfinding algorithm, large amount of open water (rather than rivers) and the NAM settings.
I can work with bridges and some stranger options tho.
Might pay to get the latest NAM for the new plugins zip since some had trouble with the last one.

Just in case anyone new shows up here ...
How to get the map: (Copied and modified from Smiley's post in the previous game!)
1. Create new region Xiamen
2. Load up another region
3. Drop the config.bmp into the Xiamen region folder.
4. Load up Xiamen region
5. Hit Control-Alternate-Shift-R
6. Select the grayscale jpg Xiamen.jpg
7. Wait a few minutes while your computer generates the map. (Note: On my fairly decent computer, this took over 10 minutes.)
8. Don't forget to plant trees and place animals when you start your city.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

I'll use a stopwatch, but basing on Kitakyushu, on an A64 3000+ it'll take about five minutes. I was sure the game had crashed midway...
Edit: Seven and a half. Probably because it's now larger than the original Kitakyushu.Last edited by Kassiopeia; August 13, 2005, 13:08.Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

Plugins
This is the CURRENT VERSION OF THE PLUGINS, including the trash chute. It is the version of the NAM that we used in the last game. I looked at (and DLed) the July version of NAM, but I don't understand enough of the 'optional' details to install it myself, nor did we agree yet to do that.
If we're going to do that (which i'm fine with), someone please post an updated version.
TO USE THIS FILE: install it over your %profile%/my documents/sim city 4/plugins folder. Make sure your /program files/maxis/sim city 4/plugins folder is empty. (Or the other way around, whatever floats your boat.)
If you want to recover mods that you had used in the past, please back them up now.
EDIT: Bah, it's considered too big for Poly upload (tho 4.83 MB on my computer?). PM me for the file with your email addy and i'll mail it to ya. Or someone else can host it<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.
