My ping was a precaution. If you had allied-attacked me, I'd still have some bases, and you'd have been hopelessly pruned economically speaking (with 1 homebase and 1 captured base each). If Skanky had come to your defense, I'd have prevented him from defeating the JonnySpaced assault.
In any case, I'd have disrupted any allied plans, if there were one. This made it sure that you'd lose all your bases. 25 BP is a small cost for a precaution that insured your personal defeat
