I have finished Pirates of the Sword Coast. A pretty good module. A few minor bugs here and there (I had to turn off shiny water with my ATI card). It started off slow (no new tilesets, just new items), but became a pretty good story and adventure.

My broadband has been connected, and it is only a shame that I have to wait for the connection pack to be posted to me. Snail mail indeed.
With this in mind, I have started thinking of a Folderol build that (a) wouldn't die straight away, (b) or even that often, (c) would be fun to play, and (d) would have good roleplay possibilities. Obviously, once I have come up with the concept, then I abdicate responsibility to you gents and get you to help me with the build itself.
I'm thinking of a simple fighter/mage build, but Elven so I can roleplay as a Spellsword, because they've always seemed pretty cool. I'd also like to sport a beard - will Folderol cater for my twisted desires?
I was thinking that I'd start off with a few levels of fighter to give myself an early chance, then chucking in lots of mage levels so I have between 10 and 15 fighter levels and epic spells by level 40. (As if I'll reach that far. )
Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), I can't actually start the game with a wootly magic sword, so my early levels will be a sort of quest to prove myself worthy of the sword.
Help in the form of general advice, or builds/partial builds would be much appreciated, as would a recommendation of what extras I might need on my game before entering the loony world of Folderol. I'll find the latest patch, of course, but tell me what other files I will require. I don't have the time to play until Thursday, so let's hope my connection pack has arrived by then.
Right, I'm off to read up on Spellswords to check that what I think I know is correct.

I think you should play a Fighter/Pally/CoT, or Fighter/Bard/RDD if you want a solid character to start with.
If you insist on fighter/mage there aren't many ueber combination. I really like the Fighter/Wizard/Pale Master build on the official website though if you don't mind being evil.
