I paid money for HL2 and feel ripped off. The game was boring and average with invisible walls, was overly linear, with the same style of MP I've had for years.

      It's overrated.

I've never played or seen Chronicles of Riddick, so I can't comment on that.

Halo 2 is a lot more fun in multiplayer, but Doom has a much better single player experience. I would never buy Doom for its MP, just like I would not have bought Halo 2 for its single player.

You should try it, its great! But don't buy it, rent it instead: its a short game.

I wouldn't know, I'm not on Live. From what I've seen so far, Halo 2's single player is better IMO than Doom's. Doom 3 is an old school shooter and, basically, I don't care for those anymore. Like I said, been there, done that. Halo 2 has more gameplay diversity, it's not always the same thing, over and over again...

Which is why I didn't quote them in "s. Do you know the difference between
about HL2 being the worst FPS MP ever
            and
            "worst FPS MP ever"
, Asher? Stop trying to twist my words.

The delusion here is apparently not coming from me...
You spammed the BOTH OG and OT forums here with your, well, quite frankly, hype spam which dissed HL2 and hyped Halo2. It was hilarious when you were asked to elaborate what made HL2 so bad (IT WAS FILLED WITH INVISIBLE WALLS! ... where? ... well, I ran 500m out of the combat area and climbed on 4 boxes and from there made a hard jump on some wall, just looking for one...) or what made Halo2 so special.

You were like an annoying spambot back then.

            It's (HL2) overrated.
Yes, well that is pretty obvious considering it's by no means revolutionary and it was being portrayed as such... altough I've honestly played neither of those games

Ha, I told you so It's a mediocre game at best.

There is no difference between saying I thought it was the worst game ever, and "worst game ever".

I'm not twisting your words, you're twisting mine.

Halo 2 is still a way better game than HL2, if only for multiplayer.

And I have gone into details of why I'm not a fan of HL2, and why Halo 2 is more fun.

The "invisible walls" comment was made at a time where I spent an hour trying to go where I thought I was able to go to proceed (since the hole at the top of this mound was big enough to fit). Thinking it was one of those incredibly lame, boring box-moving puzzles that just showcase the half-assed physics system, I spent an hour building a path up to the opening, only to find out there was an invisible wall there...

For what it's worth, both HL2 and Halo 2 use the same physics system (Havok). HL2 made it a gimick and utilitized it more.

Well yeh, I feel your pain. Those suck. Unfortunately scenes like that seem to be also very good at getting points from the reviewers with hard deadlines to meet. I remember how there was a gliding scene at the very start of FarCry, how useless the scene was (waste of time basically, it was boring to glide since you had very little control of it), and how obvious it was that it was directed to the reviewers to show the best parts of the engine. It worked, too. Despite FarCry had a bad plot, mediocre AI, horrible MP and SP was way too short it scored upper 90s in every gaming magazine which I read about it. Quickly after that I stopped reading gaming magazines and their game reviews, realising how much influence hype had gotten... hyped games like Black & White and Doom3 sell outrageous amounts of copies altough they suck and you get bored to them within a day.

                  Yes. Many, many times.

You shouldn't have eaten that last chocolate muffin and maybe you'd have been able to fit through the gap.

It ceases to be a gimmick when it's integrated into every aspect of the gameplay. Take Havok out of HL2 and the entire game would be unplayable. Take Havok out of Halo 2 and nothing changes except maybe 2 barrels, one box, and a warthog sliding down a hill (all cosmetic things).

Haven't you played the Jurassic Park game with the similar physics many years ago? It's just as much a gimick now as it was then.

It didn't add anything valuable to the gameplay. The physics are still glitchy and half-assed, making me wish they focused their time on other things. The first time I threw an object at someone, I threw a TV at someone's head. They didn't even stop talking. I rolled my eyes right there.

The gravity gun was annoying to use. It's one of those "cool" things at first, but just gets annoying and impractical to the point where no one would use it. solution? Make them use it.

HL2 is a mediocre game at best.

You clearly didn't play the game on hard. It also seems to me that you are just dismissing something because you couldn't figure out how to use it correctly. The gravity gun has a single button weapon switch that is totally separate from the other guns for a reason.

Did you ever use a metal table as a shield? Did you ever grab grenades out of the air and throw them back at enemies? You saying that the GG in HL2 is a gimmick is the same as me saying that vehicles in your precious Halo2 are a gimmick because if you wanted to you could walk everywhere, or saying that stealth in Splinter Cell is a gimmick because if you wanted you could just blast everything.

Besides, we both know that you immediately dismissed this game as crappy because you were unlucky enough to have that sound studdering bug when you first played. You hated this game before even giving it a chance.

                            I gave it a chance.

After waiting 8 hours to ****ing install it, playing it for 2 weeks with a STUTTERING bug (not even a SOUND stuttering, everything did), after waiting so many years for it, they REALLY made a game that needs a lot of work.

Even after the stuttering was fixed, I had no desire to come back and finish the game. It was just boring.

I agree with Mike; you are punishing the game for your initial experience. Hard to shake those first impressions.

It's not my fault they don't care about polish in their game. Says a lot, actually.
