I played it about six months back, for the first time

Great atmosphere and i always liked to play as the 'ent/tree' people(Lord of the rings tainted me).

Never really got to grips with it in terms of winning a game, but as i was wary of all the strange technologies(tree people you see) i usualy got stomped by a much more advanced ai Thats using the antaginiser patch thing.
So i may be the only human alive that lost to this game(twice)?

But overall i've spent a fun 20 hours or so on it and its staying on my hard-drive

The Abryl are alright, though they tend to self-destruct when played by the AI because the AI uses their ability to block their home system off from the rest of the galaxy, stopping their expansion. The ability can be much more powerful in the hands of a human, especially because the AI doesn't send any escorts with firepower to assist colony ships (and niether do I, for that matter).
