You see? They're making tons of cash. Compare a huge seller, like Halo 2 (about 5-6 million copies sold irc), and World of Warcraft (I'm not sure it sold 1 million copies yet). Blizzard will make a lot more money from WoW than Microsoft will ever make with Halo 2.

"According to ELSPA, Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association, Sales of entertainment and leisure software across all formats in the UK for 2004 totalled £1.34 billion – an increase of 6.6 per cent over 2003’s record figures.

Xbox games showed the most significant growth, with sales on the format rising 37.9 per cent. However, it was PlayStation 2 that ruled the roost once again, increasing by 13 per cent on the previous year and taking £640 million through tills.

No breakdown for PC sales but guessing they're probably around £100-200 million so around 10 - 15% of the total market.

Most people i know who aren't gamers are buying PCs for work and the internet buy don't play games because they find PCs very user unfriendly and difficult to use. Playstations or Xboxes they can just plug into their TV and play.
