Ahem, look at my flag. I am surely no American.
Well, I believe in another thread somewhere in PBEM land Beta had this exact discussion with several of us (and some aussies too!) ... we explained to him that indeed he was on the American team, and correctly called such. After all, it was three USA citizens and one Canadian, making us all Americans of a sort ... North Americans.
And I never called you an American, just Smiley ... (Though after a certain holocaust of nuclear proportions, maybe I should consider lining up a few insults ... )

Yeah I agree it can be confusing.
Is it better not to oppose so as to avoid the doubling effect.
If I understand it right, the 'unopposed' penalty doubles it anyway, so it doesn't help to not oppose ... my question is does it *hurt* more than just getting the wrong side of the Rock Paper Scissors deal...

Increased hitpoints were increased up to 3 per ship-BP right? ie 3-6-9-12-15 ? or were they up FROM that to something higher?
Past games: 2-4-6-8-10. GO 8 and on: 3-6-9-12-15
Unopposed means that in that round of battle (ie wave 2 or whatever) the team being dealt double damage has no ships available of the sort they claimed in their OOB, right?
Exactly.
Is Unopposed doubled by the comparative factor as well (ie L vs F, if L is unopposed, is that doubling doubled)? Or is unopposed just supposed to effectively prevent single weapon fleets from avoiding doubling of the other two weapons by ensuring that the unopposed ones will always be doubled?
Let's say you have lasers in the OoB but no laser ships. Opponent does damage with following modifiers (in addition to range and formation modifiers)
F vs. L: 2x
L vs. L: 2x
T vs. L: 2x

And not only am I in America but I am in California, which is GMT-8. I get home around 7pm Fridays after which it's dinner and sometimes partying, so effectively the weekend starts Saturday at noon.

Unopposed doing double damage, sure, not a hard one.
Maneuver ... umm, maybe. That'll be the hard one. Give me a few days.
Okay, if I understand things right i've worked out the spreadsheet to understand unopposed double damage, HP (3 hp per BP per ship) which is how it was anyway, and Maneuver (gives 100% bonus to next attack).
Question: does Maneuver carry across waves? It would probably be bad strategy, except if you expect your opponent to expect you to maneuver in your first or second slot of your first wave, and thus put his/her wimpy ships in slot 3, say
LLT-FFT for a L/F primary fleet
so if I guessed this right and put my L/T strong fleet
TTM-LFL
say
would the M carry over to the second wave, or must it be used during the wave it is used in?
I ask mostly because it would be easier to assume it is not allowed to do this for spreadsheet purposes (I did, anyway), but I can work it out if it is allowed to do this (just have to cause the second wave to refer to the first wave, something i've avoided to date doing on purpose as it allows them to be identical (excepting asking for a different OOB half)...)

I'd say no you can't maneuver at round 3 or 6, there'd also be a huge mess for battles that went past round 6 with a maneuver in slot 6.
