    It's up to you.

I was thinking a protracted war between the two of us would not be that interesting to the other two players who are probably more anxious to start another game.

Another alternative might be to finish this one out while another game gets started, since games can be played in different folders to keep them separate.

Victory points sounds good for the next one.

    General Ludd,

I'm loving that sequence of screen shots. You were at one time, supreme, lording it over a vast empire and this was one instance when Marignon's budget defense finally met its match.

    • Oh, I didn't lord over much except independants provinces and what was left of Ermor. I was just fortunate enough to have started in position that gave me free reign over half the map. I didn't have nearly enough magical strength to stand up to Jotunheim or Arcoscephale. It's unfortunate that I never got a chance to face Marignon, beyond one or two battles early on.

Incidentally - the priests of the Black order, despite what it says in their description, are effected by the drain scale. Even though I had more than two dozen priests, each one was only netting two research points each. That's one of the reasons I became so keen on capturing citidels - because my priests could take advantage of the enemy dominion and have a research boom for a few turns, before the province was fully converted.

So, how about the next game? Should we play on a different map? Perhaps the Sundering, since it is a similiar size.

Do we want an AI nation again? Any other rules?

      • Oh, and I'd like to call dibs on Caelum. Although I might change my pick as the map, rules, ect... are decided apon.

        • The Sundering sounds good, I don't care one way or the other about AIs. If Caelum is taken I will play Vanhiem.

          • I'd like to try Man. Any other options and/or maps are fine with me.

Playing as a nation of fearsome casters will probably make a nice change from Iron Faith, the biggest magical dunces in the game.

The Sundering is fine by me, not that I've played it much. I suggest using victory points, with a victory point for each capital, plus three others. Five victory points (out of seven) wins the game. Increase site frequency to 45 or 50, Arco's gem spells won him the last game, so some more gem sites would seem to be in order. Hall of Fame should still be at 15, research normal, richness normal, renaming allowed, indies 5 or 6.

How about two or three starting provinces, to speed up the early game a bit?

As for nations, I'd be tempted to take Jotunheim again. I don't usually go in for 'evil' nations, but they're just too badass to ignore.

But in the interests of diversity, I'll take....

              R'lyeh.

Will I GM again, or does anyone else want to do it? And does LDiCesare (or anyone else) want to play?

The settings sound good, I think you did a good job of GMing this one so if you would not mind doing it again...

                • These settings sound good.

Sandman was superb as GM, so why not again? I am willing if he'd like to take a break from doing it, though.

One question: How are the other 3 victory points earned?

There's a tip that comes up somtimes, warning you not to attack Illithids unless... something. I never catch it. What's the secret to beating them?

Your suggested rules sound good to me... I'll send you my pretender.

There will be three independant provinces that are worth points, aswell as the capitols.

I've never played with victory points before, though, so I don't know if the independant provinces will be more fortified or plentiful than usual. You do have to capture the keep in order to claim victory points form that province... right?

Victory point provinces are no harder to take than normal independent ones. If someone builds a fort on a victory point, you must take the fort to claim the VP.

I think the tip is about not using mindless troops with a non-mindless commander againt R'lyeh as the mind blasts will directly target your commander and kill him, and mindless troops just sit on the battle field without leadership...

Well, I also had a little help by finding 2 great sites, one that supplied a free fort and Wizards (great boost to research, forging and spell casting) and the site giving a 20% Conjuration bonus. Beginner's luck that I was able to survive long enough to find and exploit these advantages.

I have also sent my new Pretender file to Sandman, with the hope he decides to continue as GM in the next game.
