Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
Fresh from exterminating Marignon's ruling class, and capturing the capital, my southern expedition outreached its supply lines and ran into those blasted hoburg mercenaries. And a huge swarm of flagellants has cut off the captured capital from re-inforcements. Still, at least they're not sieging Arco any more.

In another huge battle, more of Marignon's finest throw themselves at the Jotun troops. But the power of Erik is too much...
Shame about Angerboda, though. Remind me never to use magic duel again.
Magic duel is useful, so long as you use cheap astral mages vs. expensive ones (for instance astral Vaitti hags are excellent mind duelers).
Meanwhile the people of Marignon brace for vengeance upon the lord of Jotunhiem...
You can also magic duel safely if you have 5 or 6 astral levels more than your opponent if I'm right. Like an astral 9 pretender.

That is also true, you always win when you are 6 levels higher. However, most of the time I would not script such a pretender for mind duel, as ther are better things to cast with that much magic (and you never know when the enemy might bring along someone with 4 or 5 astral).
Yes, indeed Master Enslave is a much better choice for instance. Or Battle Fortune or Will of the Fates...
But if you have many communicants, you can use for instance a theurg or arch theurg with 8 communicants and cast magic duel easily.

The last pockets of overt Marignonese resistance in the north seem to have been eliminated. Soon, all they'll have left is their southern holdings, which are already over-run with Ermorian undead.
Meanwhile, Ulm has lauched an attack against the Ermorian capital. I hope they've got lots of priests... Personally, I think they'll be defeated.
The Jotun economy is still struggling with Marigonese spies infesting our production centres; Ulmish involvement is suspected, as well. Erik demands the withdrawal of all Ulmish spies, otherwise there will be trouble.

Such heresy! It is bad enough to doubt the ability of the Black Order in dealing with simple undead, but to suggest that they are working in colaberation with Marignon's spies?
No, they are not useless, you just need a nature 3 mage (a druid with a thistle mace is quite easy for all nations to get) to cast the
spell relief. Even without this they are alright as long as you can win the battle quickly, before they run out of fatigue.
Meanwhile, the Marignonese seem to be planning a long, long last stand. Hopefully they'll start running out of money to pay for that wretched spy network of theirs.
