The 24 nobel laureates all had rooms in a small hotel, a short ways away from where the conference was being held. Since it was a small hotel, they were the only ones who were staying there.

On the evening of the first night, everyone arrived and went to their rooms without incident. At some point during the night all the occupatants of the hotel heard screams, which quickly ended.

Weinberg was discovered in his room, electrocuted, and the smell of ozone was in the air. Perusal of his room showed that someone had displaced parts of two of the walls, and put two huge plates of metal in their places. Apparently a change of resistance (which took place when he entered the bathroom and flipped the lightswitch) had caused the potential difference accross the plates to be high enough to make electricity arc from one to another and fry poor Weinberg in the middle.

The police came, and questioned people, but were completely baffled by the case. Asking around, durring the day, the police found the person who was responsible. He had had the job of repairing the hotel for the conference. He had been asked to make the alterations by someone over the phone, who he said seemed to sound american.

At the conference, the laureates and other attenders couldn't stop talking about the murder. Josephson pointed out that the person responsible for the murder must have been in the hotel that night (or hired someone to be there), as there would have had to be a slight change in order to make it so that the next person to flip the switch would be fried.

That evening, Gell-Mann pointed out that the only thing missing was Weinberg's Nobel Diploma. "It was probably done by one of us," he said. "We can't let the police disturb this conference," said Cooper. "I know," said Schrieffer, "Let's vote on who we think did it; than that person can injest some radium, killing them." They all agreed that that was perfectly reasonable, and that a vote would take place that night, after supper.

You are wrong about my avatar, but right about the first victim. An attempt by the mafia to frame you?

It is customary to bold the name of the killed person.

I think you died first because you weren't into the game enough. Look, you didn't even change your avatar.

I am very into each of the games I play in thank you. Just look at the total posts per Mafia game thread. But nothing happens before the first kill, everyone knows that... And the reason I didn't change my avatar, was that that guy seemed totally loco...! Besides, killing a person for not changing an avatar is bad behaviour...

If I had been the mafia, I would have killed you for that.

                          Er, joncha.

Damn! I didn't want to vote first, but I now only have a half-hour window at work, and will be playing NWN all night tonight (well, until the duchess gets back home ), so I won't be posting then.

Random vote: Adagio. EDIT: Vote changed, see below.

More seriously, the manner of death does not seem to be a very helpful clue, as none of our prize-winning work seems to have much to do with it...unless it's something with superconductors, in which case practically half of us could be suspected....
