    Other assorted comments:

    1. Those with anime-themed avatars have not been faring well at all in this game so far. Jonny, I'd watch out if I were you.

    2. Graphics, in particular graphics that directly quantify the game data, increase aggressiveness. Past example includes the Nuclear War game that had the map with cities and mushroom clouds.

    3. The most popular ship in the galaxy is the Vampire class laser battleship, with 38 in service, six more than the second most popular type, the Darkcloud class torpedo battleship. These numbers don't even show the whole story, as 47 laserbattleships have been lost in combat versus 7 torpedo battleships.

For aspiring starfleet officers, I restate my previous comment on choice of vessel to serve aboard...

    • When the commander of my fleet learned that the declaration of war on MORON arrived 40 minutes after the attack has already begun, he committed suicide by initiating self-destruct of his laser battleship. The blast wreaked havoc through the allied ranks, destroying most of our ships.

      • By the way Smiley, Paddy and I agreed he gets the odd base.

            • Hmm, Kass adds his name to the list too. It's really a shame that I'll have to sacrifice myself in the next god knows how many games making sure listed people don't win.

              • Bah, doing an attack like that is simply not worth it....

Like I said, it is not hard to simply screw someone, it is an completely another thing to win.

Lets see the scot and luji survive the next 2 turns. For >64bp, you each gained 8/6 bp, worth around 18~25bp.....and complete vulnerability for the next two turns.

Don't attack someone with the avartar of Zero Type 52-Tan, or you face kamikaze.

Ah well.... I was expecting an allied attack coming my way, but I wasn't expacting two of them

It is annoying that the failure of other first turn attackers means that I die. -_-

I guess an low profile 4 base noobs will probably win this, since the attrition rate for attackers have been too high to elimate them all in the next ~2 turns without suiciding themselves. Jamski and Joncha are in an strong position, but they can be taken down by the 4 base noobs if someone allies.

Side note: neither Jamski nor Joncha have an shield...

                • Analysis of prediction:
                  Predictions:
                  Certain attackers:
                  Drspike, kass, skanky

very high chance of allied attack.....

                  Almost certain attackers:
                  Sparrowhawk, GB64, Luj, Joncha,

                  Certain Targets:
                  Me , Jamski

                  Almost Certain Targets:
                  PaddytheScot

                  Ambigious:
                  Atragon

                  Attacker Defender Ratio estimate:
                  7.5: 3.5 ~ 2:1
                  Actual:
                  attackers:
Drspike, kass, skanky, GC64, Ata, Luji, paddy, joncha, jamski
                  Defenders:
                  Drspike, skanky, me, sparrowhawk, herc

                  A to D ratio: 9:5 ~2:1

                  Prediction rule flaws:
                  1. Raw Strengh really don't determine attacks, but alliances. (which are hidden) Only people with no allies depends on their own fleet strenght
                  2. Possibility of shield reduces chance of being picked greatly.
                  3. People don't pick possible attackers as much as shieldless defenders.
                  4. Feuds happen.......

                    • On OOB, and ship build strategy:

All Laser Build: The most reliable way to over power, but also quite dangerous. A few notes: (since I'm dead, no secrets remain) Once the laser fleet out numbers by around 25%, it would steam roll anyfleet reguardless of OOB by using the first attack.

                      Given equal Bp

                      All laser vs balanced

An all laser build will will over power balanced build in almost all sisutations given close in, spread out. excluding one OOB type for the defender.

OOB of mixed fleet: TTx xxx, back off against LLx xxx, close in spread out.
100% 2/3 mixed losses, 1/2~1 losses to the laser fleet

Note that against balanced fleets using start out attack, spread out is important to an laser user to prevent torpedos from shutting down attacks completely. Since the LLx start is obvious, the opponent will obviously put torpedos, with no fighters, first.

2nd turn laser attack strategy: Doesn't work
FFT TLL against straight forward mixed fleet strategy from above, close in, the lasers try to line up fighters and fighter counter torpedos.
                      1/2 chance that:
Turn one causes, 1/6 losses to laser fleet. Turn two lasers would do 1/2~2/3 losses to the enemy fleet while suffering an additional 1/6 losses.

                      Another 1/2 chance that
The fleet can suffer 2/3 losses the first three turns and lose the battle.

                      -------------------------------------------------------------------------
Summary: an laser fleet is not flexible but it is effectiv against evenly mixed fleets, as it can match at worst, defeat utterly with the best OOB settings.

Laser vs 1/2 fighter torp - counters lasers
Similar to balanced fleet's OOB, however the defender's choice of OOB are: TTF FLL, and TTL LFF

TTF FLL requires the laser to play it safe, as in spread out. If this happens, the win chance for the 1/2fight/torp fleet is ~100%. If no spread out, than the chances are either complete laser death without losses, or 3/4 f/t losses and lose the battle.

TTL LFF, back off against someone who uses spread out and logical oob, and the chances are
                      50%
                      1/2 f/t losses to 1/2~1 laser losses
                      50%
                      3/4 f/t losses, 1/2~3/4 laser losses

Against someone who doesn't use spread out
50% complete victory for f/t fleet
                      50% 1/2 f/t losses, ~3/4 laser losses

As Jam said you are missing the integral part of FG strategy. If you sit there trying to win by not responding to attacks then you are inviting further attacks. Everyone that has attacked me knows for a fact they will attract an attack from me in the near future, in any FG, even if it isn't in my advantage. It's long term strategy to send and reinforce that signal.

If you annoy someone awkward who plays in many FG (like me) it means you are unlikely to win too many FG.

                              • Once when Jam attacked (and almost killed) me I organised an allied attack against him after I was dead.

                                Now that's awkward.
