If you want a game where you can roleplay being a fairy in tights, you need a headcheck.
There's a fineline between people /say'ing in game about "what loot u got" (which annoys me), and people going, "Goodday kind sir! I am Sir Mouthalot of the Eastern Kingdoms, son of Sir Sexalot of the Western Kingdoms and heir to the throne of Kumar! Might I examine your bag and see which riches you bring with you?" (also annoys me).
If you're referring to neglecting the latter, good on Blizzard. I'd rather they focus on their core audience and fun gameplay over weird people with fetishes and a penchant for "acting" with their keyboard. Perhaps they should consider LARPs or theatre, not video games.

Aside from the obvious immersion breaking things like zerglings, they also have gems like this:

As for the latter, well, you obviously don't have any interest in roleplaying, or even in knowing what it entails, but that's why there are usually servers specified for Roleplay. And blizzard, aside from not providing a PvP-RP server, doesn't even maintain the existing RP servers very well despite there being only a very limited amount of special rules that apply to them. (in-character names and no "out of game" chat in public channels)
There is no reliance on quests, they're optional. And they're the most varied quests I've seen in a game like this.
As for it being the most varied, I think Anarchy Online has randomly generated missions with their own (randomly generated) areas.
Oh, I also forgot to mention the limited amount of character customization - the only variance between characters of the same class comes from ability points which for the most part are nothing but statistical adjustments on base skills. And you only get Fifty of them. Only fifty choices in the entirety of your character's life, and many of the choices only have a fraction of the impact that a pair of boots can.
No ****... every single thread in the Other Games forum, Ludd makes some assinine remark about how he doesn't like it.

I think it's because he sucks at all games. That would explain why he was the only one who hated trash talking in Halo games in that old thread, not that he would play it anyway.

But trash talking is not an in-game factor, it speaks of the competitiveness and immiturity of the players, not anything about the gameplay. Would I want to play with someone who trash talks? No. Is it because I suck? It's because I don't want to play with a brat who gets his rocks off playing a game. If you want to insinuate that I suck because of that, go ahead - I'm not a competitive person, and I don't play games so that I can gloat about 'pwning' people. It's not going to hurt my ego if you think I suck at teh gaming.
