As for the guesses - nope not yet, although some are in the right area, one in particular

      Clue2:

This was a sequel which came out in 1996 on the PC.

          • Buck Birdseed got it already then, it is Princess Maker, or specifically Princess Maker 2.

This game is now up to its 4th edition in Japanese, Chinese, and Korean.

            • I should have written Princess Maker 2 straight away, what with it being the only english-language one. Do I still get it or is Smiley the winner?

              • Depends on how nice the game setter is feeling, and whether Smiley googled it.

                • I'll give it to Birdseed, he got it with one clue while it took me to Clue #3 to figure out what it was.

By the way its a fairly entertaining game- though the US market probably wasn't ready in '96, the popularity of all things anime today would make this a big hit, perhaps in an MMORPG form. It's simple to play and games last about 3 to 6 hours (there's a fixed game length).

                  • Princes Maker2 !?

Pah, I´ll take Alter Ego over that one any day of the week. In that you were a person living a life, from birth to adulthood, to old age and finally death.

                    • That game has no atmosphere though. Princess Maker on the other hand does things with 256 colors that I would not have thought were possible.

                      • Actually I got Kick Off 2 last thread in a manner similar to the one you just got Princess Maker 2 in, so I'd feel a mite bad taking this. Well, okay, in that instance the clue that it was a sequel had appeared before the guess of "Kick Off", so I suppose whoever guessed that deserved it.

I'm prepared to take this if it's desired, but at least give Smiley joint credit!

                              • Clue #2: Each component part of the physical manifestation of that other activity translates into a subsection of the game I have in mind. One of the subsections also contains that physical manifestation in its entirity, but without the accompanying actions/meanings.

(Yes, it's gonna be another of those "decipher the increasingly complex descriptions of some aspect of the game until someone gets it" clue sets. It's a pretty well-known game by all accounts, and unique enough to belie simple description.)
