The kind that makes us want to slit our wrists at pushing 300 units around seperately each turn. I love it

The potential of that game was so great, the implentation was so poor that if it didn't have the Star Trek lore supporting it, it would be completely unplayable as opposed to just often unplayable.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.
I haven't played Dominions II in a while either. Though it is fun, I'll give you that, it is also very hard. However, I bet it is probably the best TBS for PBEM
Why SMAC?
Ok, somehow I´m going to get the exp and find out
The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness: only power, pure power.

SMAC is great (to me) because it combines very mature story-line elements with a TBS. You are not so much playing a "nation" in teh civ sense as you are "role-playing" a faction/faction leader. You lead your faction through the drama of the story, and you're choices/strategies as a leader impact the outcome of that story. There's a gazillion small reasons why, standing alone, it is a great TBS, but the combination of a great story that really shows BR's education and a TBS is the primary reason I think its a great game.
Oh and lest I forget, the fact that the planet itself is a character just makes more mondo coolness in the integration of story-tbs.

Hey quantum, was up.. long time no see.
I have mostly switched over to playing Dominions that are played in one or two sittings, with players on the GameSurge #dominions IRC channel. It works so well, I have actually given up the PBEM kind.
