One thing I am curious about is account names of 'poly posters who are on Folderol.

For the record, my NWN account is Qilue (supprised? ).

Duke, perhaps someone at Poly with a broadband connection and a CD burner could download CEP (+patches) for you and then mail you the CD?

Qilue, I don't think rah would like that.

Besides, I already have all of the CDs (well, HotU is from Thailand off eBay), but since I don't have broadband then there is little point in my playing Folderol. With that in mind, I e-mailed Spike all of the codes for my discs, and he's using those on Folderol with his, er, less than pristine versions.
When Jam and I were at his house, we couldn't even play NWN on one of the modules because both Spike and I have the same codes, which was a bit of a pain. He has said that if I ever get broadband (God, and the duchess, willing), then he would retire, but that won't happen any time soon and I'll probably wait until NWN2 before I even try to play online. That way we'll both have the original discs.

Actually I'd happily mail you what you need, and it's completely legal as the CEP is free.

I've retired already actually...........Folderol is good but it's an amateur effort and it shows after you've been playing a while. Still, I got almost 2 months play out of it, which was more than I expected, so cheers for the codes.

Damn you! You've stolen another one of my "good excuses" for not getting broadband.

                  *ahem*

no one has mentioned the big Neverwinter Nights news.

                  New premium modules available!

I remember them doing some talk about another expansion pack. There wasn't a whole lot of support for it. So fans suggested releasing content available online. This appears to be it.

The quality of it, I'm not sure. I need to read the forums and check them out.

They aren't real expensive, but I'm not sure how many hours of gameplay they have.

here's a link for you all

I downloaded the shadowguard module (which also includes re-mastered witches wake).

I'm in the middle of it right now. I have to take a break to get some sleep though

It's pretty good. I'm a little disappointed with a few bugs. I was hoping for a more polished game considering they didn't add any builder content.

The story seems excellent. There's a sense of mystery to it. And there's lots of good dialogue. Some people don't like lots of dialogue, but I do, if it is good. And this is. Don't worry though, not nearly as much as games like Planescape (which I still love, but it is a lot of reading). But there is still combat for those bloodthirsty fans.

I'm looking forward to finishing it. Definately a damn good module.

I like screen shots. Actually I just like this robe because it shows the bust of my female character nicely. I'm actually a bard. But I don't think I'll wear armour very much. I'll probably stick to robes. I'd like to get her up to arcane archer, but I don't think I'll be able to select arcane archer before the module ends. I just won't get to a high enough level. I'm level 4 right now btw.

I have completed shadowguard. A bit short, and a few more typos than I would have liked to have seen. It's a good thing they included the remastered witches wake with it.

Good story line, lots of good dialogue.

So is NWN worth buying? I own both of the BG titles and I found them to be enjoyable if a bit repetitive.

the game has been out for years, and you are finally asking this question?

did they ever release a demo? I don't think they did.

A lot of people who liked Baldur's Gate hated this game. But many did like it. The graphics are 3D (though not true 3D as in a first person shooter). But they sometimes lack the style and individuality of the crafted graphics of the Baldur's Gate games. They can be repetitive is what I'm saying. And the biggest reason people didn't like it like BG was because you aren't in a party like in BG. It's more of a solo effort (though you can have 1 henchman- 2 in HOTU expansion, but you cannot directly control your henchman). And the combat tends to be more on action, less on strategy as in the BG games.

It has much more multiplayer possibility than BG though. And I have had some great multiplayer experiences with this game.

I can't say I like quite as much as BG2. But it's pretty close. It's a different type of RPG in ways though. Mainly because of the focus on the single PC, vs. 6 PC's.

And in multiplayer. You can have a duneon master controlling things similar to a pnp. Though this can be difficult. the DM doesn't have nearly the control as in pnp. The action goes too fast. And you can't control where the party is going. They may split up and talk to different NPC's.

It may be an amateur effort, but a lot of it is my amateur effort I'll be on Folderol perhaps on Sunday... I have all the cables and modems and crap now, but (as always there's a hitch) I need to drill some holes in some walls to connect things up. Gah.
