That's fine if you prefer an LCD. This is all just a matter of opinion. You are certainly entitled to yours.
There's your problem. You bought a Dell. If you're going to get an LCD, get something good. If you don't have the money buy a CRT.

I've got a TFT too, a iiyama 17 inch Prolite E431S and it's very comfortable to look at. I never have any problems during the day looking at the screen (sun and other ligh sources don't **** up your view)
Viewing angle isn't really a problem, I can watch it from pretty much every angle possible.
Ghosting is a problem that occurred a lot with old and crappy LCD. With modern technology you won't see that anymore. Same goes for response time, they're down to 12ms right now and your eyes are not that fast that they can see that lag; once you get up to 25 ms and higher (crappy LCD) that's bad.

Still I think for pure gaming a CRT is slightly better, but not that much. It's possible to pwn with a TFT too

Agreed. Using some no-name piece of crap CRT for image comparisons kind of makes that arguement invalid.

It's when you compare equivalently priced CRT and TFT monitors that a true opinion can be given. The image uality of most of the TFT monitors when displaying graphics was somewhat inferior to my Sony trinitron.

CRT provides flexible resolution and better colors.

A big plus for LCDs IMO is crisper text and (considerably) reduced eyestrain.

If you happen to read a lot on your computer then: LCD

Reduced eyestrain is generally attributed to the absence of flicker. But if you have a good CRT, this shouldn't be a problem. The text may be be crisper, but its also more pixelated. Those damn jaggies can become quite irritating. A friend of mine bought an LCD and he simply couldn't stand the jaggies, so he returned it.

My LCD has 5 levels of "pixel blur" built into it (I said it was a good one) which nicely retain crispness without jaggies on the 2nd lowest level. Sweetness. Wonderful monitor

Care to tell us what, exactly, is that dream machine of yours? Or do you want to keep it for yourself? My Precioussss. Did you get one of those LCD tv's? They are much better than computer LCDs, and also much more expensive...
