  • The next morning, Father Nikolai, Mr. Tacticus and Chef Hercules gathered around the breakfast table. They looked at each other. Without any words, they all turned and walked toward Mr. Gunner's room together. Mr. Tacticus pushed the door open. There, Mr. Gunner lay on his bed peacefully, his cold body drained of all blood.

      • Well, it is now day so you can all vote now. If you all vote two that would mean whoever is left is the winner. I wonder how this one guy is gonna put two other people to death though.

        • Ah ha, that changes things considerably. only three for lunch.

I think that we have now isolated Father Nikolai as a vampire if not the head vampire. Because I was with Tacticus and Tacticus was with me.

I wondered why Nikolai didn't vote during the 'dream' sequence'. Very suspicious.

                      • Oh I did. Didn't I?

Ok guys, I'm going to take the kids to the science museum, the zoo and the airport tomorrow. So it is very likely I won't be around until very very very late tomorrow night (read: around 2am perhaps). Hopefully we can get the votes in tonight ok? I know it is very crucial that you all give it a serious thought. But you can't just sit there and do nothing!

                        • Father Nikolai sat under one of the trees in the garden outside the castle. In deep thoughts, with an empty look in his face, he didn't hear Mr. Tacticus approaching. With a sudden suppressed scream, he turned around.
"Oh! You scared me, Mr Tacticus!"
He looked on him with a sad expression in his face.
                          "What is it?" Tacticus said.
                          "Oh...well...I was thinking on something..."
"What? Please, tell me." Tacticus replied.
                          The father moved uneasy.
"It's just that... We are now three persons left, right? And we still haven't taken the last vampire. I assume not both of you are vampires," he added with a bleak smile," as I guess I'd be doomed then...
Nikolai looked deep into Mr. Tacticus' face.
"I mist be honest, it might be you who are the vampire. I can't be sure, and if you are, you've played your cards well. If you are," he said, while Mr. Tacticus moved and tried to speak, but the father raised his arm to stop him.
"I must say that I feel pity for you, a vampire's life can't be anything to write home about I assume. Now the point is, you know, I know and Hercules know, that this evening either the vampire or the normal guys will win, if not the vampire decides to leave."
"I hope so," he mumbled to himself.
"Anyway, I'm a bit surprised we haven't got any more clues, I'd expected that the vampire would at least make some... I guess we'll have to live without them... It is with great discomfort and uncertainity, that I have.....decided to lean on Hercules as the vampire."
Nikolai looked at Mr. Tacticus, hoping to get a clue out of his reaction. It was none to get. Mr. Tacticus nodded. Father Nikolai sighed, and said with a sad look in his face:
"I hope you don't disappoint me, I pray that you are of the good. God bless your soul, son, I think we'll both need it, no matter what the truth really is."

                          • Ok, can I interpret that Hercules votes for Nikolai and Nikolai votes for Hercules? If so, it is now Mr. Tacticus who will decide the fate of you all.

                            • It pains me to say this, but... the only conclusion I can come to is that Nikolai is the vampire. I allowed Hercules to sleep in my room last night, and I cannot imagine that I would have survived had it been him, especially given that I locked the door and slept on the key. Please forgive me.

                              • "You pose well, father." Said Tacticus. "I had trusted you. The crucifix that you wear had given me a false assurance, just as it gave all the others. Most of them are dead now." He swallowed, and then continued, "It is hard to understand, how come a respectful priest like you could become a blood sucking vampire. However, I remember reading somewhere, that the crucifix is only powerful when the person who wear it have absolute faith in god." He paused for a second before he added, "The clerical collar of yours is certainly also very helpful of deceiving."

It took Father Nikolai a couple minutes to understand the words of Tacticus. "You are accusing me." His face was distorted by the greatest disbelief. "Yes, he is." Chef Hercules interjected. A lighted candle was in his hands. "Now it is the time for you to pay for all the lifes you've taken."

Father Nikolai suddenly turned and started running crazily toward the castle. He tripped over the threshold of the castle door. Hercules tossed the candle onto him, and the priest's black tunic suddenly bursted into flame. Nikolai got up, and continued running into the castle. Chef Hercules and Mr. Tacticus stood outside of the castle in silence. They could hear Nikolai's screaming went up the stairs, all the way to the tower. Flames shot out from the windows, and spread to everywhere.

It was almost twilight. The sunset kindled the skies. In front of them, yellow flames was gobbling up the giant and old castle, sending long black shaddows dancing on the ground.
