Hmmm, Not much of a penalty. He gets two free squares and only reduced by half. Too bad, now I'll probably lose by one square. Oh well. I'll have to take that into account the next game knowing it's possible to benefit from missing a jump and not having to plan to time it right.

I did too, but i went back to the beginning post and read the rules and it only specifies reduced. It doesn't say reduced to what. So it becomes a GM judgement call. Having been one for a couple of races, I MUST respect that. Jonny has done a great job on this race and the track is a fun one. (despite all the sandbags I hit) Yeah, I wanted to win this one, but Kassi out raced me in the last sandbag alley. The jump was my only chance to catch back up. It was a good design feature for this track. (which I intend to use in my next one.
)
I plan on GMing the next or following race. I will readdress and clarify this rule. Planning for jumps is part of the fun and you shouldn't get advantage by not doing so.It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

I really had never considered what the penalty would be for missing a jump until it actually happened. I decided that I would penalize him 1/2 speed since he was only 1 space short of the ramp; if he was more than one space away, I would have reduced him to speed 0.
Edit: Still awaiting orders from Kassi.

While I have no problem with your decision, I do question your logic. If two people are jumping over a cliff and one only misses the far side by 2 feet while the other misses by 10 feet I don't think it is going to matter when they both hit bottom how close they were to making it.
Having said that I have no problem with you decision for halving the speed, but agree we should clarify for next game.

Now taking turn 33 orders...

Yes, the penalty for not making a jump needs to be set in stone; in retrospect it probably would have made the most sense to reduce speed to zero, or alternatively reduce speed by 1/2 and force the driver to forfeit one turn (to get the car back on the track.)
And, how do you all feel about the length of the race? I wanted something that was a longer than the last race (which was very fast and only 11 turns long), but shorter than rah's last 52-turn odyssey of a a race.
Nonetheless, this game has gone on for over 2 months now, so I thank all of you who participated throughout the course of this game.Anyone want to GM the next one?

Turn 33 Orders (seems a done deal, so I don't see any reason to PM them):
A(M9)
Thanks,
Sparrowhawk
p.s. Kassiopeia still has a wildcard? and I thought Rah volunteer to GM the next one? (assuming that our rookie winner doesn't want to, it is actually his race to GM I suppose)."Clearly I'm missing the thread some of where the NFL actually is." - Ben Kenobi on his NFL knowledge
