"back in the day"? i thought you guys were playing this just a few months ago! so did you guys all get bored of it or what? it seems like it should be a pretty shallow game but so far it has me addicted. we'll see how long it lasts.

muxec: yeah they are. i've only gotten to the 3rd level(mermen) in the beginners campaign. so far it's not that they are super hard but it just feels wrong to have to sacrifice/lose troops as cannon fodder while you build up good units. it also seems as if the ai goes after your better units even if that means he will lose lots of his own. could just be me thinking paranoid though.

drspike: check out the sea orc!

he has a rather humorous introduction in the first campaign(3rd level). here are the rest of his stats...

It's nice, log in to v0.8.4 official server for due with me l..

It would be right to rename difficulty levels to
        Enormous
        Extreme
        Imposible

I didn't get bored of it. It's just that multiplayer games very time demanding, and if I want to do anything else in a day I can't really play Wesnoth.

yeah i mentioned that on the forums. it seems as if most people don't care from what i can tell. if they introduced a time mode so whoever has the most points wins, or king of the hill, some weird version of ctf, etc it might be a lot better.

I wouldn't really be interested in a point based game. King of the hill or capture the flag could be interesting, though.

An option for simutaneous turns might be worth experimenting with, too.

muxec: i have never even heard of that until now. what does it do? make it so you can level up more?

btw, if anyone wants to play multiplayer private message me. multiplayer is like 10x more fun than single player. single player is too frustrating even though it's not super hard. it reminds me of roguelike games where you can die at any time through no fault of your own.

i played some games today with ages of heros and lots of starting gold(because high level units cost more). can't say i really liked it as much since you generally didn't have to try to level up.

i played 2v2 on a map with a bridge in the middle over water. two humans vs me and a cpu. i am actually pleased i managed to do pretty well considering i'm still a newbie. the cpu didn't help much but he managed to tie down the other player while i destoryed most of the other player's army. my team might have actually won if we had played the whole thing but a few strokes of bad luck and momentum could have turned. i am going to try a few ideas i have for a map which will speed up the game a bit.

Do you support the idea of randomness reduction?

I'll get the new version sometime soon, then we can have more epic battles. Those last two games TVK and I played together were awsome, the 1v1 me undead vrs humans, in which the failing (but extremely wealthy due to fast bats stealing all his villages) undead managed to keep the enemy away from the commander long enough for him to get to the ENEMY keep, at which point many skeletons ghosts and acolytes were recruited to kick butt .

in the 2v2 the elves (TVK) were hit right away by the enemy elves, while the undead captured mass villages while trying to get the slow army there. Both elf commanders fell, but TVK was still kickin with a ranger and a couple other units. I managed to get to the dwarf keep before ol' dorfy got back. I then recruited an army and gave chase, with some stalling from TVK the commander was surrounded and beaten to death in a forest about 5/6 or so of the way to TVK's keep.

muxec: i don't know. in single player the randomness is very annoying but in multiplayer i actually quite like it. it makes things much more interesting as anything can happen. maybe my opinion will change if i have a stroke of bad luck though.

yeah, the battles feel really epic. i noticed that too. it's really a special game.

pg, can you compile the game by your own?

That was a hoot. I only had a bad roll against the enemy leader who came rolling in with everything he had at the start while my troops had spread out a bit (did manage to tie the bulk of his force down though). I did attack his leader with about three units but had some bad hits. I lost my leader but managed to take him down in the next turn with my remaining units and got a nice promotion out of it with an elvish captain.

Afterwards it became an interesting match. Shifting fronts, giving chase, cutting them off at the pass, rear strikes and close quarter combat all over the place.

I'll be around for another game if anyone wants.
