  • Need Game Reccomendations (any genre)

For PC, X-Box, Ps2, and/or Dreamcast. Nothing too recent for PC, my computer is getting up there in age.

      Civilization. Hahahaha... Ahem.

Try Legion if you like strategy, a Half-Life incarnation, or maybe an old transport tycoon/clone.

The problem here is knowing what you've already played in suggesting something you haven't.

X-Com Paradox games are also endless sources of entertainment, if a rather steep learning curve won't turn you away.

Dominions II , again, the best TBS game ever made. And little chance of it not running on your computer.

i just found starships unlimited( www.apezone.com) to be quite a good game. should run well on slower pcs too as long as you have 500mhz or so. i'm actually probably going to write a review of it here in a few days or so.

we had a discussion about it before, but i'd say Thief3(deadly shadows or something like that?) is actualy a very good game for the xbox.

I'd got it last month, played the training mission, then got intrested in Cutthroats(PC), which is taking up my time now.

BUT my other half/girlfriend has since got completely into it. so much so that she rates it more than KOTOR, which she was mad on for a fair while.

While she's been on Thief i've been sneaking the odd look, and it has kindled my interest - i'll just have to wait until she has finished it before i can get a look in though.

I managed to get it for £20 as well, a store was doing a deal so look around

My suggestion would be MTW (lots of mods available); Heroes of Might & Magic III (plus expansions).

I would suggest staying away from Matrix Games, as these are aimed at severe grognards, and they lack good graphics and modability.

IIUC Matrix, along with Shrapnel, HPS, and Battlefront, is one of the last surviving publishers of historically accurate wargames. Theyre quite respected in the wargaming community, but as leo implies, that community favors accuracy over graphics. In the past the community liked modability (see TOAW) but the economics dont work for that - sales of any one game are so low, that the developers repackage the same engine for a different battle and release it as a new game - HPS is most accused of this.

My favorite game ever, aside from Ultima VII part 1, is a little gem called Star Control 2. This game was recently re-released with enhanced graphics and sound for free by the games original creators. Starcon2 is part of an old genre of space exploration games. You ride around in your spaceship exploring the various planets of the universe, conversing with funny aliens while attempting to unravel the mystery of intergalactic war. The story is that mankind has been enslaved by the dreadful, octopus-like, Ur-Quan and it is up to you as one of the last remaining humans to overthrow the Ur-Quan. To do so you'll need to forge alliances with other races, build an armada, discover the secret of the ancient precursor technology and of course, save the chick. The game has a nice fusion of RPG, exploration and action game elements.

                              You can get it here:

                              Enjoy.
