  • also I heard you can get a house somewhere. How does this work?

I never did it my last game. But having some place to put my alchmey equipment in this game seems necessary. That stuff is heavy. I don't want to wait to do any of those great house quests (because I heard they give you something). I need something now.

I'm looking for a base of operations in Balmora. That seems to be the city I go back to the most. Any recommendations? Should I just kill someone and take their house?

    • (Well unless you take the route of the Tassadarian cult and abuse the alchemy stacking bug)

In defense of Tass, he uses the console.

      • You can't expect the road to master jumper to be easy now

Sure you can, just bunny hop everywhere

Normal usage - sneak everywhere and the skill will slowly rise. Caveat, stop sneaking when you want to speak to someone.

The easiest way to train it is to raise it to a decent level through buying it up 40-50 will do, then find a stationary person you can sneak behind. Then when you're behind them just sit there, dont move a muscle, so long as you're in sneak mode your skill will raise.

do the quests for one of the great houses.

As for the critical strike skill. You need to sneak up to your target unnoticed (chameleon or invis spells/potions/etc help a lot) and then hit them.

        • Diss: If you already won the game I would try some of the Mods some of them look quite good. Personally there are very few RPGs I've gone back and played after I beat them, in fact only 3.

          • that's true, I've been meaning to find some mods for this game. Let me poke around and see what I find.

            • well I found nothing . I just did a google search. Some of them don't have good descriptions, so I can't tell what they are before I download them.

one I downloaded didn't seem to work. I'm not sure if I'm putting the files in the right place or not.

              • You can kill people in towns and just take their houses from them. Of course, if you are prepared to do loads of quests for a guild or House then you'll get a far finer abode, but you'll need somewhere to keep all the junk you either can't sell because no-one's got the cash or you suspect you might just need one day. Get a small house!

                • one more thing. can you place items on the ground. will they disappear?

I haven't figured this part out. It seems like corpses disappear after a while, but I'm not sure about items. So if you have a house, do you place the items on the ground or in a container?

                  • Containers are best - put them in chests or baskets or whatever you want. Magic bags of holding......

You can leave items in dungeons (generic term) if you want, and they will be in the same chest when you come back for them, but the monsters will most likely have respawned.

                    • Dont put items into boxes and chests, they will disappear. The safest place is on something. (ie the ground, a table, etc) In the beginning (before I get a house/dungeon/cardboard box) I usually keep objects I dont use on the ground in the wide open spot in Balmora

This has never happened to me.

But yes, you can put items on the ground without fear of them disappearing.

                        • I funny thing happened to me on the second Blades quest (the one for the scull) Any I get the skull and head back to Shar gra-Muzgob. But she has dissapeared. I figure she must have been taken away for Necromancy. I then proceed to ask everyone in the mages guild about where she is. No one knows. Ok, So I go talk to Casius about her. He says nothing new, but he does mention that she's afraid of the temple puting her in a fire. So I head on over to the temple. No one there will talk about her.
At this point I'm about to consult a walkthrough, but I have one last idea. Last time I went to jail I was released at Ft. Moonmoth so I head there to check out the prison. Problem is despite calling the tower a prison there are no cells
So now I go check the walkthrough. No mention of her disapearance. So I search the official Forums. It's a bug Luckily you can type a consule command to bring her to where ever you are standing. Supposedly she can fall through the floor in the Mages guild. I've actually done this twice myself when I was hopping along.

About stuff disapearing. It better not, I've got at least 70,000 worth of stolen stuff sitting in the crates outside of the Southwall corner club.

Nerano's Manor makes an excellent house, lots of tables to put stuff on, I've got everything neatly sorted in there. I'm glad I killed him, to get the key.
