I don't know if there is a minimum to start making potions, but if there is (15 should be enough), and you are too poor to train to that minimum, go for pearls.
Go to the water, find cullops and search for pearls.
Once you have enough money, train your alchemy, find equipment (Caldera mage guild) and start the bu$ine$$.
Make potions. Any. Even poison, they'll buy them all.

Yes, that's one way to make money, with potions. You can make enough to get some equipment. Another reason why I like mages - they don't really need to buy armor and weapons to get started.

At around level 8, you can kill your first ordinator. Well, depends on your race/abilities, too. And it's easy from there.

I played a custom class that focused on medium/heavy armor, long blade, shield, and then mostly spell casting beyond that... most particuarly restoration (for healing), mysticism (teleportation!!!), and related skills.

Since my character joined the Imperial Cult, he was basically something of a Breton Paladin.

As an aside note: I have to tell you that the teleportation spells available with mysticism are some of the best time-saving devices in the entire Morrowind campaign. Put ranks in Mysticism and learn those teleportation spells.

I am finally in Vivec. A huge place. too huge for my tastes. I waste hours just walking around exploring. If I were to talk to every NPC, well this game would take years to finish.

Why would I want to kill an ordinator? They aren't hostile to me. Though they are unfriendly and have like a 15 attitude towards me. Wouldn't that cause problems with me and Vivec? I may need to return to the city.

I've been working on all these fighter and mage guild quests, and have been neglecting the main quest . Now I'm back on the main quest, and it is really easy. I'm level 11 now btw. Money isn't too much of a problem. I have pretty good equipment (I haven't found anyone so far that has better equipement than I already have). The main thing I need money for is training.

I'm catching up on main quests now. I'm the one now where I have to find those 3 people in Vivec with info on the 6th house thingy and that other thingy. It's really easy when you are level 11 . I'll catch up with these then resum mage guild quests. I stopped because my next mage guild quest is to a place very far north (probably unreachable by silt strider). so i want to get a little tougher first.

in most RPG's, I like to do every single quest possible. But I'm going to say **** that for this game. There is just too much to do!. I'll probably do mage and fighters guild, and the main quest. I"m not sure what else I'll do. I know there are other factions or groups you can join. I'm not interested in the thieves guild (though security is a minor skill of mine)

I did mess up a few things on my character I think. But I'm not restarting. I"m getting tired of doing the beginning quests over and over (I have done them 3 times)

He seems pretty tough. Yet... There was this one guy in the undersewers (or whatever they were called) in St. Claire (was that the name?) I could not defeat him. He attacks me for some reason. I'll have to get him later.

turns out I dont' have restoration as a major or minor. It is misc.

I have long blade, blocking, armorer, heavy armour, desturction and I think one more as a major skill.

I have things like axe, athletics, alteration, security, and a few others as minor skills.

I'm a redguard- custom class I believe. But I'm mostly a fighter with minor mage and theif abilities.

One thing I forgot how to do is spells? How do I get spells in my spellbook? I cannot remember. I still have things like fire bite and fireball, and hearth heal. I want more spells.

Spells you have to buy from someone who makes them. Most of the Mages guild halls will have somebody who sells them. Ditto for many of the temples and cult shrines.
Hearth heal is probably bad to start out with as it heals too many hp's worth at too high a cost with too low a chance for success.
Better to have somebody make you a spell that heals 5-20 HP or so with a much higher chance of success.

If you really need the money your best bet is to get a soul trap spell and then pay a visit to Tel Branora (on the SE coast of Vvardenfell - I think there's a ship from Vivec that takes you) to stock up on soul gems. There's a seller there with an infinite supply.
A normal soul gem costs 50-100 or so but sells for 4200 when you've captured a flame atronach (you're a redguard hence you're immune to their flame attack). Even a scamp is worth 4000.

You do not really need restoration. There is enough healing rings/robes.
Go to the main shop in Caldera - Verick Gemain's tavern. The guy has some interesting stuff for the low level adventurer.
                  - iron bow
                  - dragon scale cuirass (best early med. cuirass I found)
                  - imperial chain greaves (best early med. greaves I found)
                  - magical weapons (axe)
                  - misc magical objects (healing robe, iirc)

In Morrowind, I think the idea is that you play through the game multiple times (if you ever have the time!) playing as different TYPES of characters that access and play through different types of quests.

That said, the game world is absolutely enormous and the whole point is that each person playing it can pick and choose what to do among the many options and no-one can do everything.

In morrowind theres no such thing as different TYPES of characters. Sure you may start out differently but half way through the game the only thing different about it is how you look.

There are some things that have some effect, such as certain races not being able to wear shoes for instance. Of course, the effect of this is irrelevant once you hit midgame as no monsters can keep you injured for long and such.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

True, true, by mid/late game all characters have near maxed out stats and abilities so your starting stats and abilities, race, class, whatever become somewhat meaningless.

I meant the comment more from a roleplaying standpoint. It should be noted that a number of the guilds' quest lines are mutually incompatable with one another. I know the Fighters Guild and Thieves Guild are (along with a few others). It's also true that joining some factions can make joining others highly difficult, though I don't think impossible (Cult and Temple, for instance). You also can't join more than one of the three native houses unless you use an exploit that opens up with the series of quests to make you Hortator. Of course, concerning opposed factions; having maxed out Personality and Speechcraft breaks many of the RP elements of the game.

That's why plugins are GREAT for Morrowind. Normally, indeed, at around level 15 you're powerful, and at level 20 no monster can provide a challenge. While plugins solve this and many other problems. One of my favorite plugins makes creatures stronger as you level up. So, even at level 50, there are creatures that can be serious.

yep, I've already given up hope of doing every single possible quest (I can't do thieves guild, they won't let me join for some reason).

I'll probably do fighters and mages build, and the main campaign. I"ve done a few other quests here and there (mostly people I find waiting along side the road).

I haven't talked to hardly anyone in the towns and cities. There's just too many people to talk to!. I have fun exploring the countryside (I'm an avid hiker in real life- sometimes I feel like I'm actually hiking )
