I never wait for them to come out. I was under the impression they would never come out. I always go in the hard way- with guns blazing.

Oh, don't misunderestimate me. I don't wait for them to come to me, I wait for them to commit mass-suicide. Hell, I found 2 dead Floaters on the uppermost level OUTSIDE of the central shaft. One was in the hallway just outside of it, the other was in the bridge by the wall nearest the blast. The floor was gone on both the second and third levels of the shaft and a one-tile hole was blown out of the roof. If I didn't have the flying suits, that mission probably would have been uncompletable. Every wall within 5-6 tiles of the blast on the second floor was gone as was one from the top level around the central shaft. Out of 20 some-odd dead aliens, less than half of the bodies were recovered.
Splat...
That was a good mission. And hot on the heels of another assult against a landed Battleship by the same crew. Refueled and headed back out to this self-inflicted massacre.
Seriously, with a seasoned crew the first turn involves me positioning my crew on top of my Avenger for better pot-shots at the enemy. Second/third turn has them either staging around ufo doorways or better positioning to shoot anything coming out (depends on the size of ufo and distance from Avenger). This is what happened today. Next turn and I'm securing either the enteranceway inside the ufo or the central elevator shaft (depends on the type of ufo: I only bother with Supply ships or Battleships, everything else gets blown out of the sky and left for dead). The next 2 turns and I'm securing main floors and pushing into upper levels. The final turns are finishing the ship and mop-up outside.
I do full 26 soldier crews equiped with flying suits, medkits, and Heavy Plasma guns. The guns could easily be replaced with stunguns if I want prisoners or blasters if I don't want any of the technological spoils. I've even done crews were each soldier uses a psi-amp, just this is only for my own amusment. Mind-controled aliens count negatively towards morale when killed as mentioned earlier. The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.

I wanted to try something different, so I just tried my first true Bag'n'Tag mission against a Sectoid Supply ship. By true, I mean take ALL prisoner (no Cyberdisks present, thankfully). Usually, I bring stun guns, mind probes, psi-amps, the all-important medkits and standard Heavy Plasmas, but this time I just stun guns. I bagged and tagged almost their entire crew 'cept for two VERY pissed-off greys. On their turn, they shot my guy at point-blank range like 15 times. I had his partner carry his unconscious ass as far as the exterior doorway of the ship before he died. Had I medkit available nearby I could have saved his life.
Definitely doing that mission over again. Since the greys brought some of their own stun guns, I'll just borrow what they've got.The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.

Why don't you use stun bombs?(\__/) 07/07/1937 - Never forget

All that X-com/UFO buzzing almost gives me the urge to try it again.

Why would you want a remake that had out-dated gameplay and mechanics?
X-COM is hard to play now that I've experienced tactical games that actually use physics in the game world and have stream-lined and intuitive controls.Rethink Refuse Reduce Reuse

I agree. X-Com has it's place in gaming history, but it always easy to look back at a great game and overlook what would today be considered shortcomings.
Unfortunately defining what is great and what could be improved is not that easy, so update sequels don't always fare well either.
