My first computer was a C64 in 1987 (or something like that), which I traded for an Amiga 600 in 1993... I got my first PC in 1997

And I've spent much of my 'valuable' time playing games
This space is empty... or is it?

Well, in addition to owning a computer for most of my childhood, me and my friend subscribed to a magazine each in our teens that we'd then exchange with each other. So even if we didn't own every game (and there were loads rotating on floppies, believe me) we had some sort of idea about what was coming out.

Play any one game less - part of this may be my preference for TBS (and lately RPGS) which take so long to play, plus an interest in scenarios, etc. Also I suspect since Im playing games that have been out a long time, i seldom buy something im not pretty sure im going to like - people buying new games must get more games that turn out to not be what they like.
I'm a combination of A+B, although my knowledge of games seems to be a bit scetchy if i look at my results in 'Name the Game' - although i have usualy played most of the games, even if i fail to guess them in time - maybe i'm 'gamed out'?

I used to play a lot of games when computers were slow and clanky, but the games themselves were great. Now the computers are sleek and fast, the games themselves are so ho-hum.

I don't actually spend a lot of time playing a lot of games. The games that wasted most of my time are: M.U.L.E., Archon I/II, Railroad Tycoon, SimCity (Classic), Omega (a rogue-like contraption), Civ, MoO, Wizardry 6 (much less on the two sequels), UFO, and Alpha Centauri.

          Not that many.

Or option D Computer (games) Magazines. I've bought them since I got my C64 and onwards. Normality, for example, I remember from the German computer magazine PC Player. Oh yeah, and lots of playing in the good old days...

In a rough estimate I think I've played or properly tried about 600 games. The majority of those would be from the C64, amiga era. In the PC that yearly number for new games (including free and shareware) rapidly drops from 20, 15, 10....down to 5 or less.

              As Name the game leader.

A: Got my first computer (a Spectrum with whopping 48K) at 7.

B: Not many have spent more than me.........the best part of 20 years, with anything from 0 to 70 hours (yes too long, at extreme times of MP addiction usually) spent playing each week. (Edit: Rough guess at the mean would be 28. Wow that's 29,120 hours of gaming! )

Alas silly things like jobs and living with my girlfriend mean that 15 or so is the norm now. Not bad considering, but the mammoth gaming sessions are few and far between.

C: Nah. not in my case anyway. A true hardcore gamer has at least one game he has spent 4 figures in hours on. I spent 1250ish on Quake3 MP and Warcraft3 MP, and 500 approx on Civ2 SP/MP.

Not sure if i can match DrSpike on that account (probably a class lower) but what I lack in practice I make up in knowledge of computer gametrivia!

By my calculations it's just under 1 year.

Yeah, my first 1000 hour title was MULE. The next was civ 1. It takes a really good game to keep you interested for that long.

No SP game could ever do it for me. MP has so much more longevity it is quite easy to break 1000 hours if you play a game a lot.

MP has longevity, but I think that for some game types, like DeathMatch, it must still get boring way before that.

I never really counted any hours, but I'm sure that I am over 1k with civ.
