can anyone recommend any persistant worlds? preferribly ones that don't require an essay to get accepted. I like a little roleplay, but some people carry it too far. I don't like having to "prove" myself worthy to play a damn game.

Folderol is alright, but it's never up when I want to play. I'm looking for something similiar though.

I'll probably check out Neversummer at some point. Gemstone also looked pretty decent.

A lot of the PWs I've seen are SO lacking in imagination. A town called "Town", a shop called "Magic Item Store" which sells all the same things as the stores in the OC. "Dangerous Forest" "Troll Caves" (filled with standard Bioware trolls, of course)

Why should I, as a player, put any effort into imaginate RP, if the module builders are so LAZY.

        Go Folderol

Arabel has really heavy roleplay, but does not require an application.

Why not take the stock Halfling Rogue? Yeah, I know it wouldn't be "in character" to adventure with someone like that, but neither is it "in character" for paladins to multiclass and then take more paladin levels.

I've never actually used Taunt before. Might as well start now.

              That's the problem, isn't it?

Folderol seems a great server and I've certainly spent a good bit of time there, but man is that server down a lot.

Vald, I didn't mean that my paladin was prejudiced against halflings - I am! My paladin is a goodly lass, who (although short of little grey cells) has trained hard to further the cause of righteousness, and to send a portion of the money she has earned through adventuring to her crippled aunt and the monastery taking care of her while she makes a name for herself in the world.

Although I am aware that I say this every time she goes away, and I usually end up in the pub, the duchess has gone away for the weekend, and I'm planning on using this time to play a lot more NWN.

I am ready to leave the city core in Waterdeep - but which way should I head? I am tempted to go to the Peninsula first so that I don't have hordes of zombies attacking me straightaway, but I'd be interested if anyone recommends going somewhere else on my first venture into the unknown. In fact, I've just remembered that I have not yet bought maps of these districts so I have to remember who sells them. Damn! This could take some time, going around and talking to everyone.

the zombies aren't that tough. but going to the peninsula is probably the easiest. It's what most people do.

But I found the fight to get the waterdeep creature to be fairly challenging.

                      • I've always done the Peninsula District first. It's pretty easy, I think.

                          Spoiler:

There are a few generic merchants who sell the maps-- Mizzenmast Mercantile in the Peninsula (right next to militia HQ), plus I think the merchant in the Trade of Blades.

Seeing as you're a level 3 pally, you should have Turn Undead. With that, the zombies aren't as much of an issue. Wouldn't hurt to get a bit stronger first, though.

Some stuff that I think is guaranteed to be there...
                          Spoiler:
Some chest in the bottom of the prison has a +1 version of whatever weapon you've focused in. Also, there's an Armor of Comfort (AC 6+2, reduced weight, Heal+2) in the middle sarcophagus in the Warrens.

Oh yeah, I found Neversummer and started up a half-elf Ranger char. I decided to eschew dual-wield (i.e. DEX 14 ) and pump as much as I could into STR. For the hell of it, I made basically the same char (Iskander) in Folderol.
