Well if you think the tone was that of a modest suggestion then read again. That post was *guaranteed* to attract the kind of responses it did.

In the past when the case was reasonably made I did say (if you recall) that I thought it was a reasonable suggestion, albeit as a solution to a rather small problem.

Yeah, why not consolidate the MP and SP forums for each game?

Some people just enjoy a forum better when its well ordered, and they can glance at it and see whats interesting. Call me OCD if you like, clutter is annoying. If I had my druthers, we would have tags for board games, console games, and PC games, and for broader gaming issues. But I wont even suggest THAT level of compulsiveness on everyone - though i just might try to lead by example.

But forum games really are more different than just about any of the other things we discuss here. So it seems more reasonable to ask for a tag.

And by the way, not everyone who doesnt play forum games doesnt like gaming socially. I play board games regularly . Just not into forum games, thats all. And i presume there are people here who dont play forum games, but who do play MP games.

He gave HIS reactions, identifying them clearly as his. By way of rationale for his suggestion. I might have phrased things more diplomatically, but I can easily see a much more whining tones. Take a look at the "is civ3 crap" thread to get a sense of what whining around here sounds like.

Just not into forum games, thats all.

I'm trying to troll here. Stop being reasonable.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

Have you seen my replies to Paiktis in OT? As far as staying reasonable in response to trolls, now THATS a challenge. Comparitively, yours are like playing an SP game on a low level, compared to MP (to bring us back on topic )

By the way, I did try playing Mornington Crescent, so Im no purist - but I lost dismally

The OT? Not if I can help it!
I know, I am also too reasonable.

Maybe I should call you a limey bastard.

In that case, I call Cockfosters.

Sorry, got excited at the prospect of more MC, but it seems to have drifted away into the archives.

I just don't see waht the big deal is - how much time does it take, opening a thread and then hitting the 'back' button?

The whole point of MC is to make a big deal over your move. I mena, you may have to wait a couple of days until your next turn, so you should be able to string out a simple shunt to Embankment into an essay discussing the relative merits of potential strategies for you and your opponents, consider the cultural background by comparing the current game to celebrated MC matches, and generally let your imagination run wild a bit.
It'd probably be better off in Stories and Diplomacy or whatever it's called, though as Major-General Hawpington-Smith referred to it in his titanic struggle against Lady Heloise Badminton in the 1865 tourney........

must have been a titanic struggle, since if London Underground was even open that year(was it?) it was one line only.

That just goes to show how difficult the Coxton shunting really is. Why, in 1876, when Lord Farthingworth was defending his title, he didn't let mere reality get in the way of moving to St Pauls. He wouldn't let the fact that the London Undergroud not being invented stop him from using the service.

It's marketing. If you don't title your thread, you'll get less people. However, putting "FG" probably isn't going to attract many more.
