I'm just going to ask here, 'cause it's not worth starting a new thread for.
Would there be any interest in playing a fantasy variation of this game, with more flexible (and less mathy) mechanics? Sort of like a cross between this and one of those 'never ending story' games.Rethink Refuse Reduce Reuse

Or even if I do figure out a decent arithmetic based ruleset, there wouldn't be the same sort of factors as in a Society game since things like technology or governments wouldn't really be an issue in a fantasy setting, not to mention exponential growth.Rethink Refuse Reduce Reuse

104 newly trained space cowboys left the dude ranches and descended upon the barbarian villages of kuciwalker. What they found was a bigger uproar than usual, because of a revolution. but the bloodthirsty warriors who had terrorized the cowboys were still ready for battle. Of course, these were the citizens. In all warlike civilizations everyone is a warrior you see. The Spaced Dudes easily overtook the civilian militia, and captured all the cities. Usually a republic would let an enemy leader go free, but Kuciwalker was taken prisoner, tried for warcrimes, and executed. The Dude Ranches captured by the barbarians were restored, and the barbarian villages were made modern. He couldn't pay most of his armies so all of them were sent off duty and only 50 were kept
Darkcloud attempts to unseat barbarians, finds cowboys
Darkcloud attempted to sneak attack the barbarians but he found they had been conquered by the finest space cowboys in the land
Sparrowhawk continues his assault
Sparrowhawk continued his assault with 192 armies, he took 3 causualties and all of General Ludd's once proud utopia.

As I expected.
But, a correction: I sent my spy towards Sparrowhawk.
In retrospect, I should of sent it against the war phase... 'though I was certain he would send a spy against me this turn to protect against such a thing.
EDIT: Ah, I see that Sparrowhawk did send a spy at me, afterall. And I had just gotten my calculator out show how I should still have some cities left.Last edited by General Ludd; July 17, 2004, 22:07.Rethink Refuse Reduce Reuse
