Mafia XX - The French revolution

The stories are packed with clues. Quite opposite to previous mafias.

But I agree the stories are rather long, so I'll make them shorter in the future.

Who knows. Many a time we see a killer killed somebody and then pretended that he simply found the victim.

I've got to admit I haven't read the story for this game... I'm not for those historical stories (I just hate the time this story takes place)

Could you post the stats of who has how many votes, when you post the votes? Like you post the table of who voted for whom, could you also post a summary of how many votes each person has? It'd be easier to see who's being docpiled that way.

Another pile it seems. Little or no regard for clues. It doesn't matter I followed Rasputin's suggestion and bolded the clues.

Chapter 3 - Too young to die


It was really a convenient coincidence that everybody was already at the Committee of Public Safety so they quickly cast their votes and got over with it. Saint-Just tallied the votes confident the citizens would punish the killer of his good old friend Couthon. He didn’t expect that the angry mob would turn on him.
“How can this be citizens? The majority of you voted for me. But I am the revolutionary. And revolutionaries don’t need to kill. They simply vote people to death. And Couthon was my dearest friend. You are making a terrible mistake.”
“It’s too late for your defence citizen Saint-Just”, Robespierre spoke. “Though I personally like you and you share my ideas and I pity you for your tender years, you must go to your death now for the sake of the revolution. Surely you understand that.”
And the soldiers of the royal guard took Saint-Just to Place de la Révolution. Robespierre was overwhelmed and couldn’t pull the handle, so George Danton, deputy president of the Committee of Public Safety did what had to be done.
“I am too young to die!” were the final words of young Spaced Cowboy before the guillotine struck and his head rolled into the basket. The crowd cheered the death of the tyrant.

Later that day, General Bonaparte was questioning the Palace guards on duty on the day the royal prince was abducted. One of those guards was Nicolas Chauvin.
“Private Chauvin, have there been any visitors to the Tuileries Palace while you were on duty. Your shift was what? Eight hours long?”
“No sir, I took double shift to be free the next day. Fourteen hours long, Sir.”
“Yes, fourteen hours long. So, who came to visit the King?”
“Many people Sir, but all of them King’s friends.”
“So, none of the Jacobins if I understand correctly.”
“None of them Sir, but many others.”
“Can you make a list for me? It would be most helpful in my investigation.”
“Sorry Sir, I don’t quite remember all of them. I know you were one among them though.”
“OK, Chauvin. That would be all. Dismissed!”
“Yes Sir! Can I have a day off now Sir? I didn’t use it yesterday because of Prince Louis’ death.”
“Not today private, but you can have a day off tomorrow.”
“Thank you Sir!”

Later in the afternoon Fabre d'Églantine discussed his literary work with compte de Sade.
“Here Tuberski. This is my latest novel. Le Philinte de Molière. I’m sure to win another golden prise with it. Could you please read it and tell me your remarks?”
“Of course Philippe. And let me tell you I too have written a new novel. This one is the pinnacle of my literary work. I’ll call it Justine. The protagonist is an innocent young girl who is forced to endure all sorts of sexual perversions and torture at the hands of several deviant people in succession.”
“Well, at least you are consistent in your stile Tubs. Isn’t it true you indulged yourself in excesses similar to those you write about in your books? With a girl named Rose Keller? You kept her tied in your cellar for days, and you used to whip her with a knotted cord and to slash her with a knife?”
“Those were the sins of my youth. I am a politician now. But my motto in those days truly was plaisir a tout prix”
They both laughed.

Later that evening General Bonaparte was looking for marquis de Lafayette to report to him about the progress in his investigation, but the marquis was nowhere to be found. Napoléon alerted the royal guard and soon the soldiers began sweeping the city searching for their Commander. In a secluded corner of Place St. Antoine the General found his Commander, or rather what was left of him. Jonny was lying dead, his arms and legs tied, his mouth gagged, flogged to death. The others quickly arrived at the scene.
Comte de Mirabeau was furious.
“You Jacobin murderers! You savages! I shall hunt you one by one for this!”
“Yes, this is obviously Jacobin revenge. We just need to find the one who is responsible for this”, compte de Sade was much more restrained. Curiously he didn’t seem disturbed by what had happened. It is probably because he was pretty much accustomed to scenes of torture and death like this one.
“Wait citizens, wait!” protested Danton. “The Jacobins haven’t done this. We don’t flog people to death, we are sending them to the guillotine.”
Everybody started to exchange accusations and Prime Minister Necker had to stop it.
“I trust our capable General Bonaparte will get to the bottom of this mystery.”
Then he whispered to the general in question.
“I guess you are the Commander of the French Army now.”
Robespierre concluded the gloomy gathering.
“Citizens, you know the routine. I expect you tomorrow at the Committee of Public Safety.”

Was this the revenge of the Jacobins?

I must continue to insist that these murders are likely the work of our noted sadist, deviant, pervert, Tuberski de Sade.

Hmph! Nothing like the voting being closed early due to the pernicious influence of the nobles & foreigners still wringing their hands on France.

Monsieur Spaced Cowboy was most certainly innocent of the crime previously; he may enjoy being a play-revolutionary, but he has no steel in him.

Furthermore the notion that killing the Marquis would be Jacobin "revenge" is most ridiculous. The Marquis de Lafayette aided the similar revolution in America, and may in fact have made up for his crime of being a noble. No, there are people "higher up" on the list certainly. We revolutionaries kill by the guillotine, not the dagger in the night! Or whip. Whatever.

Anyway, the king is responsible for the country, or so he claims. Let him take responsibility for his latest murder, then, too, for whether he did it directly or through his henchmen, it's his fault, correct, Nuclear Master?
