Best RPG? Not a tough choice, since I've only found one RPG I like: Fallout 2

/me hopes someone can point me to some other RPG game that doesn't have anything to do with magic

...and it should also be a game where you're not the chosen one...
This space is empty... or is it?

Mhrmm.... MegaTraveller1&2? Battletech: The Crescent Hawks Inception? I'm having to go back a long way to think of non-fantasy games.

There are the System Shock games, tryly awesome but not quite true RPGs.
To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.

Twilight 2000?(rpg apocolyptic near future war type game).
The Pen+Paper game that this was based on was much better of course

Dragon Warrior 4 on the NES is by far the richest RPG I have ever played..5 convergent sotrylines, one of which is getting enough money to set up a weapons shop for one character

IN terms of RPG tactics, nothing comes close to Ogre Battle.

DW4 was pretty good for a console, but the fact that you could only control your character in battles in chapter 5?

DW3 was the highpoint, tying in the first two games, imho. I miss erdrick, I like stories that continue through games and lands.

When you say no magic ADG, what about superhero powers?
I'm not sure if there are any PC games, but there was talk of that MMORPG City of Heroes (is this right?) a while back in this forum, and I remember playing one in the mid 90s with pencil and paper.

                        Morrowind!
Um, maybe that ancient old shareware game Realmz. I used to love that game. Wonder what happened to it.

I found the story in 4 much more engrossing, the world is much bigger and diverse, plus chapter 3 is a hoot.

The second one was very innovative, but they made it open ended and it suffered from that. I agree DW3 was great, but the story of 4 made me a fan.

Super-heroes is fine... it's just the time all those magic games take place... this is why I loved Charmed, but hate lotr

I've had a look at City of Heroes, though I can't afford to pay USD$15 per month

How fun, 3+ years later and DQ4 is being rereleased on DS (out in Japan) with my concerns fixed.
