Boy, I'm old. Ultimas I-III were great fun, I got down to the final level of the final dungeon in Ultima 4 answered 7 questions correctly, and somehow brainfarted on the last question and was teleported out of the dungeon.

            Never played it again.

The best RPG I ever played was a Shadowrun game for the Sega Genesis in the mid 90's.

            ACK!

It's still KotOR, though Mass Effect is a new contender.

On the Ti-994A, it was Tunnels of Doom:

On the Atari ST, Dungeon Master:

And on the PC, its Planescape: torment (with BG2 in second place)

Without question, Fallout is my favourite. The fantasy setting bores me.

I wish there were a Baldur's Gate style PC RPG set in the future. KOTOR doesn't count because it's Star Wars and not that far removed from fantasy.

The original Pool of Radiance was my favorite. Nothing in the 1980's even came close to that ground breaking game.

Bkeela, Mass Effect is probably what you're looking for- thought it's on the XBox and not the PC.

This isn't saying much, but Mass Effect gives the best pseudoscientific justification for telekinetic powers I've ever seen in a sci-fi.
