  • at what the heck a weirding module is. It's well over ten years since I read any of the Dune novels.

    • It's certainly not mentioned in the novel... nor was Yueh gloating, for that matter. He was quite unhappy about doing what he did.

      • It's not from the book. It's from the film, the dialogue I mean.
And I altered it slightly (gloating, the names and such).

The first quote is from the book.

        • The film had the slight drawback that it was dreadful, and completely unwatchable if you hadn't already read the book.

          • Not my case

            • Not to mention, going by that difference in dialogue, that the maker didn't have a clue about the book at all.

              • And I don't want to be the Baron. Duke attacked me first, unprovoked, so he got his come-uppance. Duke should be the evil Baron.

Well the dialogue is fine, if you exchange 'pained' for 'gloating', since Yueh was, as you say, not a willing accomplice.

Ah why the labels? Evilness is so dependant on the point of view.

I changed this part of dialogue because I always considered Yueh a hypocrite. Someone capable of committing horrific crimes of such proportions like Yueh couldn't have second thoughts about his actions, because if he did, he wouldn't have committed those crimes in the first place.

                      • Well they had a hold over him because of a relative, IIRC. He regretted his actions for sure.

                        • It was his wife, bene gesserit witch that cast a spell on him and broke his imperial conditioning, the highest degree a man of Yueh's education and training can obtain.

So he was a weak man, a shadow of a man, he didn't fit well into my role, so I had to change the dialogue slightly. The dialogue from the book is even more inappropriate as it emphasises the guilt even more.

I on the other hand feel no remorse as this is all part of a very entertaining game

                          • The first Dune movie was made by an insane director. Not that you can tell.
The miniseries of Dune, the one released fairly recently on the other hand is more in keeping with the books, and is quite good as well. The game Dune 2 is much better than the book or movies though.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

Actually David Lynch made some landmark films. The Dune film was very much an exception.
