ok, i made it through the tenement to the alley, and have now received the request to kill the dabus. Seems like I have to move on, but it something tells me this isnt a good idea."A person cannot approach the divine by reaching beyond the human. To become human, is what this individual person, has been created for.” Martin Buber

But I dont see anyone posting here who is playing PST and is behind me in the game - some lurkers maybe?
In any case i did try to put things discretely.

Spoiler:
I trapped the dabus and went back to talk to the er, thingy? I need a crowbar and hammer. Ive got a crowbar, but not a hammer. I didnt take the hammer from the dead dabus, and now its too late for that it seems. I seem to remember a hammer somewhere further back, in the Tenement of Thugs, I think, but im not sure where."A person cannot approach the divine by reaching beyond the human. well, fortunately my last save was just beforeSpoiler:i trapped the dabus. so i got the hammer, did the repairs, and the street opened up. Im now in the lower ward. Ive lost Morte, but have hints of where to get him back. I guess this is why I need to keep a skull with me - I presume there will be some kind of trade. Ive trained nameless one back to fighter from thief. Looks like a lot of potential quests here. I havent entered the market yet."A person cannot approach the divine by reaching beyond the human. Spoiler:Actually, Morte is not required to finish the game, but he has a lot of dialogue, deep connections with the script and is one cool character. This place is one of more interesting in the game. Enjoy!SMAC/X FAQ | Chiron Archives

All of which ive left behind, either in the trash town, or in the hive market, I think. Now ive got to go find them, or go on without Morte - which i dont want to do - morte is cool, and i think it wont hurt having the extra fighter.
Im also glad to be beyond the hive, and get some change of scenery.
BTW - kip, berk, cutter - anyone know the source of this slang - did they make it up, is it cockney, or what?"A person cannot approach the divine by reaching beyond the human. To become human, is what this individual person, has been created for.” Martin Buber
