As a further taster, here's a screenshot of the setup management screen (the bit you didn't see before).

It's rather boring at the moment since all mods are incompatible, none have descriptions and all setups contain exactly one mod which has the same name as the setup...

          How do setups work?
          Concrete, Abstract, or Squoingy?

The idea is that each setup contains zero or more mods, which will be applied in sequence when the setup is applied. For example you might have one setup which contains the Apolyton Tile File, then Cradle (with visible wonders), and then a mod which just changes your Colours00.txt. Mods can specify prerequisites, which must be included in a setup before they can be - like Cradle could specify the Apolyton Tile File and so it would be made slightly more obvious that it requires it for users who don't read the readme, and the same tile file could be used in many mods, or they could specify their own.

Of course, at present the tile file is not a mod, but it could be in this new system, and then it would only be applied when necessary.

As I said, if you wish me to alter it for GalCiv, I'll be happy to try .

This needs COMDLG32.OCX, right? I get an error about my version of this being outdated. Could someone please attach a current one.

                      Thanks,

                      Peter

Try this one. It's from 2000/05/22, so I'm guessing Win95/98 would have an older version.

                          John,

I haven't had a chance to try out the ModDef functionality, but this is very impressive indeed. It's a big step forward from ModSwapper. Well done

                          More comments to follow.

To All: I'm running Windows98 and the only other OCX I needed (YMMV) was MSCOMCT2. It wasn't even on my computer and it's too big to attach to Poly but here's a link to where I found one (it's near the bottom of the page)

Once you get ModMan installed, it's really easy to use: Click the 'Manage' button to bring up the Manage Setups screen and then the 'Seek ModSwapper mods' button and you're away.

If we'd had this from the beginning, we'd have much better organized and streamlined mods. Check out the MOD_ModDef_sample.txt to get an idea of what can be done.

                          Again, thanks, John.

I'm glad to have some serious feedback at last , and thanks for the kind words. I'm in a programming mood at the moment so now is the time to ask for improvements (I really should be working on CTPEd... but I'm writing a scripting language instead).

I'll zip up both those .ocx files and put them on the ctpmodmakers server...

Since there's been no reports of dire bugs, I'll put this in the directory now.
