  • Visible Capital

Since I have realized that I won't be able to complete an enjoyable version of my "Modern Times Mod" I decided to make available some stand-alone features for playtesting - one of those is the

    Visible Capital feature

which adds to Locutus' capital code the eye-candy of a visible capitol building next to each player's capital city. The basic concept is the same as with VisibleWonders and NaturalWonders.
In "ancient" times an "ancient" capitol is built, in "modern" times (once the player has discovered electricity) the player gets a modern style government building. If someone captures someone else's capital, the capitol turns into a kind of residence for the new governor. If the capital city is destroyed, the capitol turns into ruins.
This feature requires what I call the "MoT-Mod TileFile": It can be downloaded at the URL given above and is entirely compatible with both the original TileFile and the Apolyton TileFile, so no risk in giving it a try .

If it is exactly the same as the ATF, but with the 3 extra graphics, can we get your new tile file made into the Apolyton Tile File?
    Locutus?
    Concrete, Abstract, or Squoingy?

I would be honoured by contributing to the Official ATF . Actually it's more than three graphics:

        - ancient capitol
        - modern capitol
        - ancient capitol ruins
        - modern capitol ruins
        - colonial building
        - colonial building ruins
        - barb headquartes
        - (heck, I forgot if I had included barb hq ruins too - need to have a look into my own TileFile )
        - pillbox imported from the Activision WW2-TileFile
        - barbed wire imported from the Activision WW2-TileFile
        - a missile silo for later use
        - (possibly i put in one or two additional TI's I might have completely forgotten - but I will take a look and provide a proper documentation a.s.a.p. )

We already considered integrating those into the ATF some time ago in this thread In the meantime I've learned to keep my posts brief, haven't I?
I'd be glad to upload/e-mail the file whereever you wish If you like you may also grab it from here and just declare it the Official ATF.

I'll have to add them to my tilefile as well (I did use the ATF when making it)...it might not be until august though...

Ah yes, sorry. I counted 'capitol', 'barbed wire' and 'pillbox'. Yeah, well that's what the ATF is for. So we don't have loads of different versions where one multi-compatible one will do.
            Concrete, Abstract, or Squoingy?

Nevermind - since I couldn't even remember what's in my own TileFile ...
A proper documentation helps alot - I have put one on this page .
Now I remember not having put barb hq ruins in because their hq already is kind-of-a-ruin in both versions and I decided that ruining the ruins isn't worth the effort , but if a considerable majority of users wishes so I could certainly provide one or two occasionally.
In those days I had collected loads of graphics from SimCity, various Civ I, II, III-fanpages and other places, as far as I remember there have been some more possibly useful ti graphics for CTP2. When if I have time I could dig out those graphics/links and put them on my website, too, so that everyone can take a look on the stuff and we could eventually discuss if we want to add some more ti's.
A question: Did someone in charge already download the file or should I upload/e-mail it?

Locutus is probably watching/celebrating The Netherlands' excitingly narrow victory of Sweden at the moment (or should be), and the file went up in Pedrunn's name, so he has the power to submit modify requests.
As long as there's a link, we just wait...
