  • Damn... read nearly the whole thread and was keen to see if I could jump in and join the fun...

    Perhaps I'll just watch from the sidelines for now as it seems this one may be ending shortly.

        I thought you'd have learnt from a previous Cradle Tournament game... oh well.

        I'm in for the next succession game if anyone is interested in kicking off another.

        • 1000bc- The new King notes all the new nations and thinks that in his next life maxplayers should be set at 10 or so.

          Hippos entertainers removed and production changed to nomad.

          985Bc- Apolytonia recaptured as it ws empty.

          970BC- Hippo riots, entertainers upped.

          Hippo is captured by Barbs, Ungaurded Apolytonia Captured by Greece.

          Games over Couldn't save it that turn but will post the autosave in the next post.

            • Where did it all go wrong i would say when the Etruscans or was it Mongols? formed a new empire from a barb city on our west side and eventually totally surrounded us. Really shows how much easier it is when you have a small and concentrated border to defend, compared to defending from all directions. Next time that happens we should secure the coastal cities more first, to minimize our land border to defend, or something like that.

              Ill open a new thread to vote on the next succession game mod.

              • It was the Mongols that revolted and surrounded us. I think part of our problem was our slow reaction to that event, and also allowing the Barbs to keep their cities. Of couse there wasn't much we could do with our weak military, and luck definitly wasn't on our side.

                  On the bright side it seems that you are the first to finish a CtP2 Succession Game.

                  I could be interested in another Succession Game provided it is not played with the Cradle. Though it seems to be an excellent mod it is far too military for me.

                      It looks like we're using CtC for succession game IX and its definitely less militaristic, or rather its less forgiving in that area and you get time to build buildings etc too.

                      Its fair to say we made a fair amount of mistakes though, playing as 3 different minds it was important we made long term plans, which we didnt do, we were jumping and reacting to what the AI did rather than playing the game our way. Had we built lots of spearmen, saved and upgraded them all we might have rescued the situation. Building Javelin Cavalry in a tiny empire defending for its life also wasnt a good idea. It looked like we were always going to lose, it was just a matter of time.
