For pbem you need a fresh install and just two files (no more!!) to be compatable.

The 1.2 Patch available on appolyton (originally from activision)

The 1.21 Hack also available on Appolyton.

Do you have any specific preferences, games settings civs etcs??

There is a mod called pbem lite which has the players start with several techs three super settlers and few units. It gets a pbem game going faster. Would you like to use it?

Well

i've actually only beaten emperor but i've played deity several times and i've pretty much beaten the crap out of them to the point where i dont care to play anymore. I can definitely beat deity so put me on the record as deity. I prefer to play civ with emperor level in multi-player to keep the game between the humans. I believe computer players in multi-player are there to steal from like cities and wonders and advancements, not to cause problems. I've read the rules and saw the list. u want to play now?

whats with the mods anyways

why does everyone want to play with mods?
and why are they all different mods.
i think it's just to throw off the people who have never played with them. yes, playing with no mods may make the game longer, but then everyone would know how to play, and it would be equal.
