Re: Strategy
The thing is we been going through a roller coaster transition over the years, core players very rarely stay, some for good reason, some just disappear. Some of them of course are legitimate. None have to stay either.. Its not like we are the Hotel California no..no..were not that I am sure of.
Well, newer folks come along and want to but many of us stick with the vanilla (plus official patches). I dont have any problems with Mods, just having to figure out what is what.
I do my own scenario making for single player, a few lines of code to do certain things.
Very few "Known Cheaters" have been though here. Oh, every now and then you will see 2 old schooler's get into the farm under the city bug, or ramping up (buy a cheaper improvement and do so up the line, in essence saving some gold. Pathing is not a cheat to me, simply holding a cursor away from a ship over blackness and if it changes from green you knowyou have land in that direction. Rush Buying is a no no, rush buy a granary and then switch to settler on same turn..no no on that.
Basically, you may find some who enjoy modded CTP1. Not many currently but a few.............

I agree, too many city improvements will drag down both tech and empire growth.
The thing that draws me to CPT1 over CPT2 is the extra 800 years and the tri level thing and futuristic stuff. It seems like most pbem games are ending before a lot of this though.
I'm curious why pbem players don't take advantage of the improvements made by the essential moders. Is it just too much to coordinate?
