Thanks for all the tips, guys. I figured I could use the renamed saved game workaround, but it is good to have it confirmed.

Blackice, are you saying I have to fully remove the .csg key in the registry? (I have done a re edit search and found that all the settings are the same as on my Win XP SP1 machine.)

    We live in hope...

Now no more 98SE since I had several problems associated with Partition issues..
                  Ok what partition issue's?

See you folks soon..BUT I am going to the mountain..newer (notthe latest and greatest but lots better than I had..I had an Athlon 2000+ (it was overclocked but was actually like 1.66 gig processor) I am going to an Athlon 3200+ so should improve performance with 512 RAM and 160 Gig HD and the graphics card will be a 64 bit not sure what brand..wife told me I had to wait until Christmas to upgrade but assures me if game play suffers then I can upgrade
Is that the xp3200 onboard processor, video, lan, sound?
If you only have one HD, get yourself a 20, 40 gig to run win98se. You will find that way more stable. If the video is onboard you should also have an agp slot. If so a real cheap upgrade would be the color power, ati clone 128 mb ddr video card. $72.00 CND. I have a computer exactly like that in the garage. Fast, over clockable, great graphics, plays any game, has s-video out for dvd movies sweet and very cheap to build about $550.00 CND.

Cuaich I do tutoring if you would like to learn some tricks? How are the trees looking in your area? Lots of color starting down here.

I added 512 RAM and my older Graphics Card Radeon 9800 (128 ddr) and all is running great with exception of the 98 issue

                      No problems..

For real we only have like 3 or 4 whom play MP anymore..I wish more did

But alas i will stick with my XP and be content with PBEM or someone else hosting

                      Gramps

As for the Partition issues I could never run my defrag for XP or even for that matter access my device manager..all sorts of additional quirks but that is all behind us now

Tutoring? As in Computer tutoring, or CTP tutoring? the latter would be more necessary at the moment!

Trees are starting to change...we have lots in our backyard, so are getting the rakes tuned up!

While it does look beautiful, fall sucks cuz ya know that cold snowy weather is right around the corner.
We have lots of trees here but the wind blows all leaves to several nieghbors lots. I rarely rake.

Ya ctp tutoring, if you like.

Humm the defrag issue etc. sounds more like spyware, melware and or trojans than it does a windows issue.
Well next upgrade would be a second hd and run a true duel boot system.

Well we need to spark more interest in online then.
Ever run hijack this? It shows you what is running on your machine. I have attached it if you do not have it.

install that and then what happens?

                            does it have spyware?

                            just asking

No no spyware hit the scan button and it will show you what is running in the background. You can then make a log of it and pass it off for analizing if you have such issue's again.

Didn't work for me. I removed all .csg enries in register, rebooted and then double clicked on a pbem game. I only get to the start page inside CTP still.

So atm I am unable to play PBEM games again. this sucks.
