I found the following thread on this site:

telling that it should be possible to run your own MP server.

Just a note you can still play ipx head to head and in single player mode for those that wish too.

                  Hows that Pete?

Head to head, as in one on one?

Like if you and I wanted to, how could we?

                  Peace

I continued my experiments from last weekend. I think I got it working now. I was able to see the server, enter lobby, start game etc. from outside (i.e. no local network connection between server and game PC). Could somebody verify this by installing the attached servers.dat, please. The "server" will be online for approx. two hours from now.

                      Ok

                      I went there..server named mounty.lernbeiss.at I believe

When I launched the server showed one person and a 147 ping..

I enetred the lobby and found you Hatschy but you had a 2000 ping and I couldnt click on you name to find any information...

Ok..I could "click" but you wouldnt come up...

I said hello a few times..

                      maybe its our connecions??/

I have Cable in southeastern North carolina USA..

                      whats your connection like?

Also why only "Online for two hours?"

                      Peace

So you can at least see the server and enter the lobby. Sorry, I was not near my PC, so I didn't see you in the lobby.

Ping 2000? I have cable from Frohnleiten, Austria. I got a ping of 260 when I tried the following: Game PC <--> modem (telephone line, 28k !!!) <--> university <--> Internet <--> ISP <--> cable modem <--> server PC.

Why two hours? Well, the "server" is actually my workstation, and I'll be unable to use Windows when the server is running (runs under Linux). So I'll have to turn it off (i.e. boot Win2k).

                          Regards,
                          Hatschy

hatschy was in works for me, I am working on the same thing here. I am trying to put on clarkconnect, no luck so far.
I want to run it dedicated but do not want to drop the security on my network. Any idea's?

Sorry, but I'm far from being a Linux/network/security expert. If I was, I maybe had already solved the problems

btw, the "I HEAR YOU KNOCKING" game, is that you? I tried to join, but I could not.

Ya humm ah my router ya it droped all the packets from your server. Let me open and allow reroute if your about still.

For me it was smooth sailing, good ping good connection. Clark connect has built in firewall but can not get it up and running. I'll try again later.
