Pete, servers.dat is the same stuff indeed, IIRC.

I did a little experiment, which includes
- installing Linux on a free partition on my harddisk
- installing an ALink server
I tested the thing with a copy of CtP on my old PC (attached via a second ethernet card - my tiny "home network").
It seems to be working fine. I found my server, entered the lobby, saw a second player, which I had created with the test program (gtest) and started a game.
Now I need someone from outside my network to verify that it is working. So if anyone is online, could you please try the attached servers.dat (please change the filename extension) and try to connect. Thanks.Attached Files

Hm, maybe this is kind of a firewall issue. I'll have to investigate that. But not now - I really need some sleep (almost 4:00 am here).
Thanks for trying.
I also need to confirm with someone that the kali thing is being done correctly?
I have the servers just no one around..
I found the CTP area but just need to find someone online and agree to be there to check it out!
Peace

don't forgert Troll.. you have to launch ctp from kali, and you both have to be in the same chat server... it can be anyone as long you are on the same one.. you should see each other and be able to chat each other, for example Paul and I used the descent chat server.
You do not have to register kali to make it work with CTP... at present anyways, it just means you can't host a chat server or createbuddies and a few other minor things.
Also you don't have to have IPX/SPx loaded as a protocol, because... it doesn't really use it, Kaliemulates it.

If you're on Linux, you will need to mess with IPTables. Make sure that it accepts connections, not drops them. The default policy usually is dropping all that has not been specifically set as allowed traffic.Solver, WePlayCiv Co-Administrator

No, Troll, I was referring to Hatschy, not you. If he's running the server, then the reason you can't connect to him is probably at his end.Solver, WePlayCiv Co-Administrator
