  • What the hell? >=O

Okay, so it's late in the game- maybe 2200 AD?- and I've basically got the game locked up- the Russians and Mexicans are on the run, the Nigerians and Egyptians are off cowering in their little corners of the world, and everybody else is either dead or so far removed from the majority of the action that I'm unaware of them. My civilization's happiness is at 100. Obviously I haven't saved in quite a few turns, because that's the way these things work. Suddenly, out of nowhere, fully forty of my cities decide to start rioting, and five to ten spontaneously become Jamaican.

Can someone explain this to me?

Well, actually its singular..as in a Wonder..which causes what you stated.

Another thing..you stated all cities were at 100 happiness?

Did a Wonder put you there?

If so..maybe it wore off on that turn?

        Were you communist?

If you were polluting the heck out of the civilization, maybe it took place at that turn that all hades broke loose?

        Hope this helps!

        Peace

Yes, I understand that it's singular, it's a Wonder, there's only one, etc. I pluralized it because saying "No AI Entity in existence" would sound a little off, and I wanted to quickly get the point across that I didn't have it, and neither did anyone else.

I'm sure various Wonders were raising my Happiness level, but none of them became obsolete- I was into Future techs. I had been, for quite a while, a Technocracy; and pollution is turned off.

hmm..just work with me kind sir, you did have all cities with military units defending?

            Also..did you have slaves?

Could they have caused an uprising?

I ask..because of al the games I have play, never seen theat what you descriibe, but am trying, have my trusty Brady Games Strategy manual by Johnny Wilson-Terry Coleman (dusting off) out and reading up.

I will continue to reseacrh and get back to you!

Sorry for your misfortune...guess saving every few turns would help in future.

Heres some change, keep calling out your situation, someone will soon pickup and give a good answer!

            Peace

I did have units in every city- except my four space cities, come to that, but on the other hand nobody else has access to space- not great defense, mind you, but I always made sure to at the very least leave a fusion tank behind from every group that captured a city.

I possessed no slaves, and never did- I've never been able to work Slavers very well. I could see having inherited some from other civilizations when I conquered their cities, except that I'd made the Emancipation Proclamation probably sometime in the sixteenth century.

Thanks for the attempts at helping, at any rate, whether or not it's getting anywhere. Maybe I ought to zip a copy of my save- I did save right after it happened- and see if you or someone else can puzzle out what's happened.

Welsh. That shouldn't make a difference, should it? I mean, unless the citizens started revolting because they couldn't pronounce the language...

Oh... right. I'm used to thinking in terms of games like, say, Civ2, where saves aren't organized in any way.

At any rate, here it is.

Without taking a lock on your save game, you mentioned that your civilisation happiness was 100. I presume all your cities had a happiness of 100. There is a wonder (I forgot its name), that gives your temporary hapiness for 5 or 10 turns. If in the mean time the happiness factors would course a happiness under the revolt limit in some of your cities, and the temporary effect ended, the happiness would drop on the level without the effect suddenly. And you lose some cities. The happiness factors are influenced by the global slider settings, and the number of entertainers you have in one city.

I'm fairly certain I hadn't built the Egalitarian Act, no- but it's irrelevant regardless. My civilization was at full happiness or near it for quite a long time, and I believe (though I haven't looked at it since yesterday) it's still fully happy even while all the cities are rioting.

I am still looking, but while your Civilization was at full 100% happiness, not all cities were..

I am wondering if maybe you had some special attack performed on you?

                            I am still looking..

Just wondering..How did you get those HUGE cities?

You did not have the latest tiles improvement nor did you have all tiles on food?

I am just woondering..I have had those size cities..BUT..I had them on Ocean Tiles with the latest and Best tile improvement.

Just asking...and trying to figure out any possibilities!

                            Peace

I dunno, my CTP games have always worked that way for me- I tend to play on Chieftan with pollution off, so, y'know, growth isn't that hard to do. *shrugs*

I think the cities may have been happy enough the turn prior to the spontaneous rioting, but I can't be certain. As far as special attacks.. I'd thought of that, but even if Chieftan-level AI could manage that, I'm sure it wouldn't be slick enough to arrange such a massive endeavor all at once.
