World War II Scenario: anyone interested, or any suggestions/comments?

So the WW2 scenario is gathering dust on the "shelf"? I DL'ed Harlan's units but so far only looked at them in the GL shots.
Has anyone got any other WW2 era units usable in ctp? I have nothing on my puter to mess with graphics, but I may have a source of more units if anyones interested?

Hey Mark, The world war 2 thing is still going. I think harlan is waiting for flat map support. And of course I am working on my global scale ww2 scenario. I have a whole bunch of units made. The people units have only one facing still due to the lack of resources out there for five facing units. Most of my units are also not animated. I think I animated about 9 or 10 but most of the animated units were air units. Most haven't been tested for allignment either but I have alot of units covered so far so if you need something I can e-mail a list of what I have. Ok. Just leave your e-mail and I'll get back to you. I would also be very interested in anything you have. CYA.

Hey Gemini
You can email me your list with just a click on the icon at the top of this post ;-)
Flat map support huh, anything is possible I suppose but I don't think I'll wait. I haven't read about anything "official" even being worked on for ctp, but who knows...
I'm not concerned about animations, they're nice but certainly not mandatory. My only concern is if players can tell the different units apart. Odds are once I get your list, mine will be shorter, hehehe. Hopefully I can get you some as well....

Greetings, Mark.
Yes, the WWII thing is still kicking; I'm tending towards a global "campaign" scenario, most likely with Gemini, and Wes has been interested in it as well, but there needed major modification in the AI before attempting this (at least, so that is wasn't too laughable), and I don't see flat-map support coming very soon....Unsure what Harlan is doing.
AAIPs has done a lot, and now the AIP-specific stuff needs to be implemented: if this is to be other than a multiplayer thing, then the AI must be capable, for instance, of fighting with an ally, and not faintly-heartedly either; also, other gameplay issues needed working out (AI naval invasions, stacking, strategy, diplomacy, et cetera) beforehand. Reducing costs of units has proved valuable for the AI--generally, if there's lots of them, the AI will use em (Thanks has to go to Gedrin, aka Chris Whitaker, for his initial work and testing of this), as I have found when altering the Barbarian AI and increasing their numbers, along with lowering, for starters, the cost of transport vessels, then a lot of others, esp. airforce units (for regular Ai types).
But, yeah, it's still in planning, just been sort of simmering for a while until more important things were being addressed . Now that the map's made, we're just getting the trade goods figured out.
Anyway, any graphics you have would be appreciated.

No offense guys but I don't expect the ai to ever be able to handle more than maybe the allied minors (even Italy would be asking too much!). I'm working on a purely multiplayer scenario (and so far easymod isn't helping).
Anyway, I'd still be interested in your AI WW2 scenario if you need somebody's 2 cents (I have over 20 boardgames that recreate some or all of it), or just a playtester.
So you guys are set on a flat map to protect usa, south america from invasion? I would think there are other solutions for that, limiting most ships to shallow water (with map adjustment of course) is just one. Just a thought...

Of course multiplayer will be important, but with 15 or more civs, I doubt one can fill out all these civs all the time with just human players...yunno? At some point the AI will be involved, and I'd hate to see it act like its typically moronic self, no matter what civ it is.
So, this is for MP and for those (including myself) who prefer the man vs machine version (only if the machine is challenging!). I think equally attention should be paid, but since the MP game would not require so much mucking with AI of course, I've mainly been concentrating on that part.
Oh--got your message. I'll get back to you on that later.

I don't think any nation should be guarenteed safety either; when I'm Russia on this map, it takes me a lonnng time to conquer Asia, and by then (using scaled gov-empire-distance settings, and new govs), it takes a helluva lot of diplomacy and conniving to have any influence over the Meditterean and Pacific, let alone the Indian Ocean. I have yet, with my current setup, been able to gain a foothold in the Atlantic.
So, if someone wants to be Germany in this and try to take on the world, take it over, good luck! It'll take some incredible strategy and scheming.
But, yeah, ships would have to be adjusted. I think the bigger ships should not be allowed into shallow water (subs specifically) and heavier warships should have extended range (for movement as well--now, with a ship of the line, it takes about 11 turns to cross the Atlantic, probably 18 to 20 for the Pacific, depending on the course and such). But this is still open for discussion of course.
Anyway, I have to go here, so I'll talk later.

Hey, guys,
What happened to this project?
I'm very interested in it, I read through all the messages, but I noticed that around November all activity seems to have stopped.
Are you continuing with this? If so, what is done/needs to be done? Maybe an estimated finishing date?
If you need any testers, just drop me a note

Hi Nicon, Yes work is still being done on the ww2 scenario, I am working on a big scenario with lots of specific units for each nation, alot of special events will be done and will play a little bit diferently than a normal civ game, but I am not sure when it will be released, probably within the next couple of months, I have been working on it since last august and it has taken alot longer than I expected and I am making it on my own, using all my spare time on it, alot of new techs and basically a really imense detailed "what if" world war 2 scenario, right now it is past the point where it would be a good idea for people to join in on the creation of the scenario but I will keep you in mind because I will need a playtester to help me when the game is almost finished, if you are serious please give me an e-mail at darrylm@cable-lynx.net so I will keep you in mind when it's ready to be playtested. Thanks
