Freeciv 1.11.4 released ~5 minutes ago - ha, beat you DanQ!:P
Mostly a bugfix release to fix mostly the bugs introduced by me. But jjm did get a chance to introduce some new bugs in the feature nuclear winter
.
Personally I think readline support is cool, though the very cool autocompletion stuff didn't make it in in time

Hi guys,
I'm new at this board - got a question for you...
I'm looking to get hold of the original civilization, and since you were talking of freeciv, etc, I was kinda hoping you knew how I could get my hands on a copy of the original DOS version... even something similar to it... it really had a certain charm to it, especially for such a small program, don't you think?

Something similar to it would be freeciv. Freeciv have rulesets that can change the way the game works. Both rulesets for civ 1 and civ 2 are included in the default download.http://www.hardware-wiki.com - A wiki about computers, with focus on Linux support.

btw DanQ, while I very much appresiate this forum I never did get the idea of keeping anything but reposted freeciv news on apolyton. The rest can never be anything but a bad repost; if the guy making it were willing to put a lot of effort into it he would be working with us on freeciv and the real freeciv website
