FREECIV 2.1.4 RELEASED

- Fixes for UTF-8 and local encoding mismatch
- Fix crash when trying to bribe a unit
- Fixed crash when unit is killed by the breaking of a treaty
- Theme had checkbox images reversed in some situations
- Fixed pathfinding crash when ferry is forced to leave path
- Fixed crash in citizen governor

`FREECIV` 2.1 IS HERE
(2 November 2007, 11:01 | Alt | 0 comments) After four betas the final version of FreeCiv 2.1.0 was released this week. This major update ships with many improvements compared to version 2.0.9, include new modding features, new graphics and graphics improvements, new city tab, city outlines, many new nations, surrender option, new border and diplomacy rules, UI improvements, improved AI and much, much more.

FOURTH `FREECIV` 2.1 SERIES BETA
(3 April 2007, 11:47 | Alt) The newest release of FreeCiv became available this week. In this fourth beta of v2.1.0, the following features are introduced:
- Allow air units to goto into unsafe terrain.
- Forbid military units from entering through the borders of another nation that you are at peace with.
- Fix many crashes with scenarios and custom rulesets.
- SDL client is more stable and usable.
- New high-res wonder and building icon set for the Amplio tileset.
- Now shipped with the overhead hexagonal `Hex2t` tileset.

FREE MMORPG CIV IN BETA

Well, wonder no more, since a new project has been started that allows you to do both things at the same time! Civ-Online is a free text-based MMORPG that`s based on Civilization. The makers of the game explain:
Well if you`ve played online MMORPG or Text-based strategy games before, free or not, you`ll understand how the game works, it may just be a case of getting used to theme. For those of you who don`t know about free mmorpgs, you make various changes, management style which give results running along the theme of the game. In respect to Civilization Online as a mmorpg, you command your own Empire based on your Civilization. You can build structures, train military and civilian units, attack other players online, manage your finance and control many other aspects.

LIKE COLONIZATION? PLAY FREECOL!
(27 February 2007, 13:41 | Alt) FreeCol, a GPL Colonization clone, has been under development for the last two years and is currently at version 0.5.3. The game is playable both in single-player and multiplayer modes, and has an impressive array of features, and most importantly is being developed in Java and such it is platform independent, playable in Linux or other java-compatible platforms.
FreeCol is also open to new members of the development team, whether that be coders knowledgeable in Java, or graphical artists, music and sound effects creators, translators, or even testers to submit bug reports.
