I was thinking of putting 1 small thumbnail linked to a bigger shot. although that bigger shot could be a composition of several shots in one file. after all a picture is worth a thousand words or something like that =)

      Hi only human:

I have some pictures that will do for now for Clash... The big one is at http://clash.apolyton.net/images/Map120.gif. I made two versions for the thumbnail, one a JPEG, http://clash.apolyton.net/images/clashmapsm.JPG which still looks a little washed out even at the higher resolution I have available, and a bit map http://clash.apolyton.net/images/clashmapsm.bmp . You can pick which one you want to use, or if you have a way to change a bit map into a GIF, which I don't, that would be a better solution for the thumbnail since I think Netscape doesn't do bitmaps...

I can email them to you if you prefer.

Thanks in advance for your efforts!

      -Mark

You missed freeciv's persistent play mode.
And freeciv gfx is not civ I style much longer.
And freeciv has various features worth mentioning. (which I am to lazy to list)

Thanks only human, looks good. Sorry I didn't see it sooner, but your post with the link was so close in time to my last one, I thought my post was the last in this forum, and never opened it! Could you replace the Clash web site link with http://clash.apolyton.net/frame/ ? It won't work the way I put it down in the list.

              When do we see thumbnails?

Thanks again for putting it together!

Revised guide is here with some shots and fixed urls, right here.

uhm... I was thinking of maybe including one more shot, that's not 'in-game' shot... could be anything... a tech tree, a user interface... whatever...

Thue, you said Civ1 graphics ("Isometric and Civ1 like"), I put Civ1. Added Persistent to modes of play... not sure too many people will know what that is though... mind putting that in a sentence or two... I'll quote ya.

                    Hey only human:

Thanks for the update. You missed the fix to the Clash url that I requested above. Specifically you need to remove the 'www.' or the link won't work.

                    Thanks,

Ah, a second screen, huh? Well, it's sort of a toss up between the unit workshop and the tech tree shots. Hmmmm.

The grey-on-grey doesn't make for the prettiest shot in the world, but I think it's probably worth showing our Unit Workshop as a second graphic.

Looks good so far. I think this table will make a very nice addition to the Alt-Civ page

For a second Image I think I'll just go with our logo for now. The small version is at: http://clash.apolyton.net/images/logo_128.gif , and the big version is here: http://clash.apolyton.net/images/L-logo.jpg .

Thanks for all the great work!

You put a server on the net and it will advance one turn per day. You can then hook up at any time (once a day) and do your moves.

For screenshots; pick one in the freeciv screenshot section or make your own as you see fitting.

Thue, really? Is that done? are there permanent freeciv servers with running games? Why only one turn per day? why not more?

some friends of mine play http://www.planetarion.com alot. I refused to play that because it is too simplistic for a hardcore civer, like me

But freeciv with, say, 3 - 10 turns as day (which go on if you log in or not) would be something I would like to try out. Rationale is that with turn a day system it would be a year to play a game, no? (I havent played any cive game in PBEM so I am not sure how they do it).

By the way all, you are all invited to GGS meeting with which we celebrate our first year. If everything goes ok (ie no firaxis sabotage) we are going to hold it as always, thursday, 19:30 GMT.

For the pictures, eh we dont have in-game shots yet

Well, you would have to run your server on your own computer; we can't have zillions of concurrent servers running on civserver.freeciv.org .

And you can set the turn lenght to what you want. One turn per day was just because it was easy to explain.
