I think that's a perfectly logical idea, except that if the ships are going to be totally autmoated it would be best to keep them small and fairly simple, 'cos otherwise their might be problems with damage control (also, in a fascist society, it would prolly actually be cheaper to put humans on the ships, as they cost nothing and if they die, there's more where they came from!)

Anyway, yeah. I think it would be fine to have lot's of AI running the ships to save on manpower, and the small fighters maybe totally automatic, but not huge capital ships. Just my two cents worth.

You've hit the nail on the head, Mellian. I was thinking Hive fleets would mostly contaiin small ships. If anything, the large ships would be the command ship. Most of the Hive fleets contain a lot of small ships with a couple heavy-hitters.

Hive fleets make optimal use of fighter's and bombers in large space battles...seeing as a small bomber can, in effect, destroy a large capital ship.

However, the largest ship's in the Hive are solely reserved for the Emperor and Warmaster Kang (do I smell Star Wars?)

      General Tact,

Yeah, but the G.H.E. uses real pilots cause we have lots of men to go around.

      Ahhh,

So the fascist, gun-toting Spartan Federation would stop the manifest destiny of the Terrans in rightfully expanding???

Oh? And what about your good Protectorate Friends?

Just because we're working on a Genetic plague for some of the alien Races doesn't make us Bastards....it makes us cautious bastards.
Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.

Analogy: Admiral Wakazashi <-> CNS Solaris

Though, later on this year when Black Hole is finished, we might reconsider.

Terran Probe Team elminated for causing another double post--

          Mr President:

Ambassador (one of the Ambassadors for Independent Planet affairs) Rachel Kells and Assisting Ambassador Grigori Earl. Feel free to handle these personas, and they can have a family etc. I suspect I will never use these characters in my posts...

Note that the EC is relucatant in sending high authorities (like the Minister of External/Foreign Affairs), especially in times of war.
Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

Well, there is no love lost between Sparta and the aliens. That may be something we can work together on

As for the Terrans and Hive(may their sun go nova and clone tubes have fungus in them) It would be interesting to see a supposedly democratic governemtn do busniess with a depotism such as the GHE

Oh yes, we wouldn't want to let the Federation wait now would we? Next post, next post, hold your horses/ships. I just need to figure out if there would be additional stuff to the post.

                  • I looked at the timeline and was corrected. My bad. Is seven years seven years long enough to set up a governement and adequetly defend yourself from the Spartan Federation? You don't have to change it, but you might want to modify your dates a little to give you more time to get settled in. At least 50 years. But its up to you. I'm easy. Mellian is the guy that will tear you apart. And i think Spart will act favorably to your message. But if or when they find out about possible Hive connections then all bets will be off.

                    • Guess who's coming to dinner?

Thanks everyone for your characters. I'm sure you're all wondering what they're in for at the Firaxis prime minister's banquet table. Look out for the mother of all dinner parties soon.
Everything changes, but nothing is truly lost.

I think i may have mis read you initial post on this. Did you want people that could come to your banquet instead of characters already there? Cause if so you can add. But im sure that the other Spartans will be there too.

Just so you know. Sparta puts a high value on good relations with Firaxis Prime for the simple reason of its location and valuable docking facilities.

General Quincy Starks-He is Sparta's Foreign affairs Officer.(Foreign Minister)

Yeah he would come there. Under heavy escort. There would be a lot of Spartan ships taking him there. The majority would most likly stay in the outer system, maybe according to Firaxian regulations . Use any of the ships on my page if you want. the main fleet would consist of

                              Warlock vessels
                              1 Command Ship
                              Lots of frigates
a Spartan armed shuttle to carry the Foreign Officer(official title) to Firaxis Prime.

Like I said. The Spartans would be interested in putting their best face. Even so much that the latest embassy thing would be kept quiet and not much pressure be applied to have a quick resoultion.

But dont' anyone else expect that

                                Mmmm,

I do hope that it is only as a precautionary measure. Also, I don't think that you could create a genetic plague in 1 yrs time. I will give you the benefit of the doubt that Protectorate scientists would eventually develop a plague, but not so quick for races they would not know. ...but hey, I'm not Mellian!(joking!!!)

I am hoping our two empires can reach a common ground so we can split up the stars for both of us....space is very big, Lord Protector.

                                To Sprayber,

'War' sometimes makes strange bedfellows. (I put war in quotes cause technically we aren't at war yet. The ambassador will see to t..h..a..t.....)

A thought just occured to me-what if the Spartan Federation and the Greater Hive Empire went to war, and so did the Laekdaemon Cadre and the Firaxians? I think that would be awesome...but probably not gonna happen.

                                Well....off to create a post.
