Citizens around the Spartan Federation celibrate 100 years on Chiron. Celebrations are tempered though by the death of Harrison Harlow. Harlow was an original follower of Colonel Santiago aboard the Unity. Harlow was awarded the Spartan Cross in 2122 for holding off mindworms that had gotten inside the premieter at Sparta Command. He will be remembered as a man that was a true Spartan Hero.

Colonel. General Kell reports more conversations with an unidentified officer in the Pirate outpost. Mostly of a non threatning manner. I suggest we allow the general to continue to maintain contact for now. Who knows, it may prove usefull in the future.

As of now the SNS Spartan and its attending foils are getting ready to depart for Fleet Anchorage. I suggest that you contact Commissioner Lal about meeting us.

personal note. I saw Angelina just before she went back to Sparta Command. She has decided which branch to study for in the War College. I fear that you may be disappointed.

Entire Miracle Mindworm-Killer Nerve Gas Shipment Lost!

The entire shipment of the new miracle mindworm-killer nerve gas has been lost after a protracted battle in the xenofungus where it was being shipped. All involved were killed when the nerve gas tanks ruptured and subsequently all were killed... Following the explosion of several explosives, it is impossible to see who committed the atrocity since all bodies were completely destroyed.

No accusations have been made, but terrorism is suspected. Zakharov doubts it came from the Cult of Planet, Morgan or our own ecological dissidents, because they all expressed interest in our project.

More likely, a faction that opposes our goodwill and growth, such as the factions who refused to attend our demonstration, is behind the sabotauge.

          University Nerve Gas Disaster!

Reports are still coming in from the University of Planet, but it has been confirmed that the entire shipment of the University's new "mindworm killing" nerve gas has been lost. Reports say that the tanks ruptured and all those escorting the convoy were lost. No confirmation has been made regarding the cause of the rupture but the University Sun-Governor reports that terrorism is suspected. Whatever the cause of this tragedy, it is inevitably going to spark further debate within council on the posession of nerve gas. Many will also wonder how the University's miracle mindworm killing gas turned out to be so lethal to humans, where it's intent was as defence against native life-forms.

          Captain,
I was hoping to entice you with a business proposition. As you are aware, my fleet is possessed of far to few of the new cruiser designs that are now populating Chiron's oceans. However, my bases production facilities are stretched currently in a massive infrastructure campaign. What I propose is purchasing six cruisers from you, equipped with Chaos batteries, silksteel armour, deep radar and AAA tracking. Our tresaury is sufficient to meet the demand on your resources, and as well there is a nice bonus there for you if you can meet the demand. What do you say Captain?

              Dawn of Planet, Main temple

Cha Dawn was reading the latest reports about the Planetary Council, sent by his son, Quzer.
He noticed at the end of one document a summary about the series of first aid shipments sent by the Data Angels to the Believers.

              "What!" Cha Dawn was furious.
Then he quickly sent a telepathic message to his mindworm bodyguard.
" Wildfire, open me a shannel with the Data Angel leader, as soon as possible...

              Datajack,

What is the meaning of sending these "first aid convoys" to the Believers? Do you really think they are in need of help? Seriously, not a single time have we attacked them. We have kicked them out of our territory three times, but we have never brought the war to their territory. So, the Believer civilians near the war zone definately don´t need any first aid help.
Datajack Roze, this could be interpreted as helping the Believer war effort. Or is this one of your ways of fishing more votes for the planetary elections?
Don´t tell me about the peacekeepers helping us. They help both sides, The Cult and the Believers, though the Believers don´t seem to like it. Besides, they´re all bunkered up in New Hope now, trying to play neutral.
I´m not begging here for first aid to the Cult also, but instead I´m urging you end these aid convoys now. Otherwise our relations might badly degrade.
If we can hold without outside help, then surely the Believers, almost four times bigger faction, can cope without any help.

                Greetings Prophet,
Let me begin by saying I don't take kindly to threats.

But as for your genuine concern regarding the aid shipments to the Believers. I can see why you would be concerned Prophet, but you have no reason to be. The convoys consist only of food supplies and medicine, and will only be distributed to those in need in Believer bases, not to the military. This will, in no way, affect the Believing military.

And I will not cease these aid shipments, because despite your false accounts, there are those suffering on the Believing side of the border. True, their homes have not been attacked as yours have. I do not claim they have suffered more than your people have, far from it. But there are those who are suffering, innocent civilians who have nothing to do with the conflict. When a war drags on this long, it can't help but take it's toll on the general populace, something you must be aware of in your own bases.

As for the U.N. mission, they have provided no assistance to the Believing civillians, because the Believing military has not let them. As someone Sister Miriam views as neutral, I was in a position to help save lives and so I did. If you find that to be an ignoble act, then I would question your motivations in this protest.

Lastly, I wish to address your comment regarding the election. Yes, I spoke with Sister Miriam regarding her support for Planetary Governor. We discussed the matter, and she has chosen to vote for another candidate, Santiago I believe. Unlike Morgan, I do not seek to bribe my voters, I intend to be elected on my merits and accomplishments.

These aid shipments with the Believers are nothing like the supply shipments Morgan sent to you in order for your loyalty in the last election. Yes, I am fully aware of that. And I am watching both you and Morgan closely with the upcoming election. I will not tolerate the office of Planetary Governor being corrupted any further by bribery.

Is there anything else you wish to discuss with me Prophet?

                    Datajack,

I apologise for the hostility of my previous message. 17 years of war have made me a bitter man.

Is all of this because Morgan has "bribed" us? Listen to me, we pay every pound of raw material and every piece of machinery Morgan sells us. The truth is, we dislike Morgan because of his destructive to the nature economy, but he is the only one who has helped us. While all the rest of you were busy spitting on us and pampering the Believers, the Morganites came to us, and started selling materials for building conventional weapons. Profiteering, yes, but that is their way of life, as it is our way to protect the nature. Nowhere in our contracts reads about us being obligated to vote for them our being loyal to them, but first, they have helped us, and second, if we severe our ties with them, they´ll stop providing us with materials and our war fronts will crumble.

The truth is, we were considering to vote you for the next Planetary Governor, if the rumours about Morgan not going as a candidate are true. You´re a good candidate and you have a excellently working Green economy. It´s a shame you have gone to the Believer side. Now we´ll probably abstain.

I am afraid you are helping their war effort, without you even knowing about it.
The believer civilians are pure fanatics, they have been raised to obey God, or rather His messenger, Sister Miriam. If Miriam says, wage war, they´ll wage war to the end, and help of any kind will just strengthen their will to attack.
You see, they are not suffering because of the war, the war doesn´t even reach their bases. They are suffering because Sister Miriam and her army of priests have sucked everything out of the common people there, in order to throw it against us.
You could say, The Endless War reached Miriam´s coffers, so she is taking it all out on the common people.
Though it is a noble cause, but instead of helping the common people, and thus giving Miriam another chance to tighten the leash, you should concentrate changing the views of Miriam and her minions.

We have tried to end this war by diplomatic means numerous times, but to no avail. They haven´t even answered us. Only when it suits them, peace reigns.
That is how it happened in the last two crusades, and that is what will happen now if somebody besides us won´t stand against them, instead of helping them.

Please reconsider with these aid convoys, that is all we ask. Don´t give them more fuel to continue beating us down...

                        Mindworm Nerve Gas Disaster Investigated

Several groups have reportedly claimed responsibility for the disaster... Including the "Greens", "The Jacobites", lead by Daniel Jahokbs-Howell, and "The True Howellians" a splinter group, led by a dissident of Daniel's.

However, findings of a team which recently arrived at the scene of the disaster has found several inconsistencies... A "Believer" symbol, a Cyborg implant, a Perfect Society symbol, and numerous other enigmatic tools.

It is unknown whether someone was trying to frame others, or that the shippers were members of one group while the attackers were members of another.

                        Inquiries are still being made.

Whether it was stipulated in the contracts or not, Morgan began supplying your efforts to ensure that you would vote for him in the election. While I don't like it, I do see that your position left you with few alternatives as you needed the supplies. As a warning, and this applies to all factions, we are keeping our eyes open for suspicious activity linked with voting. We will not condone bribery as a means of electing a Planetary Governor.

As for your rather insulting remarks claiming we were "spitting" on you and "pampering" the Lord's Believers, there is no truth in that and you know it. I have had no contact with Sister Miriam outside of the Council up until recently.

But I am beginning to share some of your concerns with Sister Miriam's respect for the civilian population. As you know, the convoy has arrived in the Lord's Gift and is supposed to be making it's way westward, distributing supplies along the way. However, Miriam's security has been abnormally high and every where our aid workers of being treated with intense suspicion. Certain areas have been fully restricted to Datatech aid workers, and there are those that are suffering that we can not help.

I hope you can find some solace in this. I intend to speak with Sister Miriam about this directly, for this aid mission cannot continue if my people are continually being treated as criminals, especially as it's interfering with their job. As well, I intend to only send supplies to the Believer's in an amount that is equal to what Sister Miriam puts forth to relieve the suffering of her own people. So if she chooses to put all her efforts into supplying her military, than she will recieve nothing from us.

As for you and your faction Cha Dawn, you speak as though you have not recieved any aid at all. I was under the impression that the U.N. was sponsering a relief mission in your territory. Am I confused and has Comissoner Lal only sent a peacekeeping force? If this is the case, then I will offer you the same agreement, for I seek neutrality in this situation and only wish to help ease civilian suffering. For every energy credit you use to provide food, medicine and shelter for your people, I will provide the same. It may prove a strain on our economy, but perhaps we can garner support from our allies in this mission.

Let me know Prohpet, and I do appologize for this misunderstanding. And if there is any way we can help broker a peace between you two, I will do everything in my power. The ultimate way to end the suffering of the civillians is to end this pointless conflict altogether.

I believe I have been more than fair in this situation Prophet, especially seeing the rude way in which you approached me. In future, if you seek my assistance, try asking rather than making demands and all this diplomatic posturing. I'm a far more agreeable woman than some would have you believe.

The aid mission, having made record time reaching the Western Continent has spoiled that advantage as it has been almost enitrely confined within the Lord's Gift. Aid workers report that Believing officials have been surprisinly uncooperative with Datatech workers, denying access to some civillians citing "security reasons'. While no offensive units have been spotted, the Datatech Defence Forces have been placed on full alert. Spartan Information Service

Early this morning, Colonel Santiago officiated at the opening of this term of the Spartan War College. The Colonel officially inspected the ranks of Sparta’s future officers. She gave the official word that as usual, the best of the best had been selected and this years class looked promising. Today also marked the day when upper classman chose their preferred field of specialty. Initial reports suggest that the Navy has shown an upsurge in recruitment of new talent. Close behind was the Air Force and Army. The Army has traditionally been the favored branch of service. So much so that some officers had to be assigned to the Navy and Air force. But that trend was reversed under Marshal Kessel who lead the effort to establish a credible Spartan presence at sea. We see now that his efforts were successful. The Colonel expressed no concern over the Army being a distant third place citing statistics showing the Army more than capable of doing its assigned tasks. When the Colonel was asked if all the energy spent on the naval buildup was worth it she responded with a quote from the Spartan Survival Guide.

"It is altogether fitting that we who have sailed the deeps of
space now return again to the sea. This is in many ways a water
planet, and it can be ruled from the waves. With sea power, rugged
terrain can be bypassed and enemy strongholds isolated. Once
naval superiority is achieved, Planet is ours for the taking."

The Colonel's quote caused a roar to sweep through the on looking saliors while near by Army officers ignored the comment and kept quiet. Later in the day, the Spartan Representative to the Planetary Council was inundated with interview requests from various news services around Chrion. Representative Solo had no official comment.

Weekly Essay: The Grapes of Wrath
                                By Leanne Haslam

According to the U.N. Charter's third version, the Planetary Governor has a "responsibility to ensure the spread of peace and prosperity, and to adopt a neutral and peaceful stance towards all nations." But we have seen little of that during our good CEO's tenure. Instead, our government has perpetuated the trade limitations against the Gaians, despite signs that changes were ready to come; we have failed to act in the face of the Third Crusade, a horrific war that has swallowed an entire generation of Cultists and Believers; and we have been deliberately intransigent towards the Chiron Alliance, raising the danger of another Cold War, or worse.

Commentators continue to demonize Sinder Roze, casting her as some sort of cross between Adolf Hitler and David Duke. This is counterproductive in the extreme. There has been no activity on the Defense Line for years. Yet diplomatic relations remain frosty, and the central administration takes an extremely hard line against any who attempt to forge closer contacts. The prosecution of Morgan Transport head Charles Summers last year indicates how far the government is willing to go to keep the Data Angels at arms length; before being sentenced to 15 years in prison, Summers had been the architect of Morgan Industries' road system.

Our blind opposition to the Chiron Alliance and all its policies is a recipe for disaster. The Hive, the Believers, and the Spartans are clearly working towards some goal of their own, and all signs are that it will not bode well for Morgan Industries. Aligning ourselves with this bloc simply because it is opposed to the Chiron Alliance is hasty at best and careless at worst. More and more Peacekeeper and Spartan officers and troops appear on the Western Continent. No word has come on the talks that were supposed to end the Third Crusade. The situation is still explosive. Ironically, our alignment with (by some analyses) the stronger side will not save us in the event of war. Despite the Defense Department's saber-rattling, taking on the Chiron Alliance would be a task on the scale of Israel's victory in the Yom Kippur War of 1973. And the Spartans are notoriously contemptuous of what they perceive as weakness. Failure to support them fully could result in their abrogating the strategic alliance, cutting off Morgan Industries' main supply of first-class military hardware. Perhaps, in diplomacy as in medicine, prevention is better than cure, and CEO Morgan should use his powers to head off the possibility of destruction on a scale not seen since World War III rather than stubbornly furthering personal rivalries.
Everything changes, but nothing is truly lost.
