Thanks for being so understanding. As mentioned above, I am withdrawing from PBEMs for a while - at least until I have brought some order to my life (don't worry, it's not that serious). I'm certainly looking forward to coming back, not just because SMAC is such a good game, but because of the great people I have met in these forums.

If there is anything I can do to help you, please email me. That includes playing a last turn of annihilation.

I second the sentiment . Anyone that does over a hundred turns with a good rate of play like you did is welcome in any PBEM I am in

PBEMs take months and months so sometimes real life intervenes. BUt come back to the PBEMs when you get the chance. I suspect I will be here playing this antique game even 5 years from now ( if I can find opponents)

Oh and I pMed Darsnan late yesterday so I hope to hear back either way if he can help us out. If he cannot, I will advertise for a replacement. How does the title "300" sound as a working premise ?? We need someone willing to gamely fight

Flubber has asked me to take over the Gaians in this game (I guess if he then beats me that he can finally claim to have beaten me once while I was playing Gaians ), so when you get the chance please forward me the turn, as well as give me an E-Mail address to forward the turn to, and we'll get this game going again!

Lord Darsnan looks out the window of the Gaian capitol into the courtyard below, seeing official after official carry out bundles of government documents and mem-disks and placing them onto growing bonfires. Its not just the smell of the burning government documents that is creeping into the office Lord Darsnan is standing in, but also the smell of defeat which permeats the air around him. Lord Darsnan turns from the window to look at the current Gaian military commander, General Gamelin. "Where are our reserves and security forces for repelling this invasion?" Lord Darsnan asks.
"Aucune", Gamelin replies, then switching from his native French he repeats, "there are none".
Lord Darsnan digests this, thinking about the situation he has been summoned for. He looks back at Gamelin, "You are dismissed", then without a look back turns to the strategic map before him. "Well, let us see what can be salvaged from this situation. "

You had been friendly with my faction and in fact we acquired restriction lifting techs through a joint effort. But shortlybthereafter the gaians breached the deal by trading those techs onward to sebp and Gaian- angels interaction has been limited since. About 10 years ago Gaian forces entered Angels lands inexplicably (just to your north). They penetrated up the river before I blockaded them and they retreated. No explanation for this act was ever offered despite my requests.

About 2 years ago a number of Gaians bases joined the Angels and last year active hostilities broke out.

You seem to be on good terms with all the other factions but tightest with the Drones. You two have tech leapgrogged quite a bit recently. Since the Drones are hoping you will fight valiantly, they should be generous with tech and cash
