There was a glitch in my setup with respect to the technology track. Normally, as Hive, if you research Information Networks, and don't have any other technology events, you get offered the choice of Planetary Networks during your next technology selection. This is important to Hive in order to moved to that paragon of social joy, the Planned Society.

Unfortunately, something is amiss in the setup, because I was not offered the choice of Planetary Networks. Meanwhile, I have to research a technology of questionable worth, depriving my citizens of the joys of a Planned Society for years, perhaps decades!

I have held off on sending the turn to University to see if a moderator can perhaps alter my research to Planetary Networks as it should be.

Since I am new to PBEM, I have no idea if a moderator can do this or not. But I would greatly appreciate it if someone in the know can answer this, so that I do not delay the game too long. Thanks!

I'm sorry to say that this is standard behaviour. There's nothing you can do, and likely it'll be the same for all players at some points.

I have played several TCP/IP and hotseat games, and I have never seen this happen. Is it the editting of the map that causes this to be "standard behavior", because on the generated maps, it never happens?

I could see Morgan also being negatively affected if it delays IA. Morgan normally has a direct beeline to IA.

Anyway, I will go ahead and send the turn to University.

i had a problem too, before loading the game the game start to ask for the disc once and again, why is doing this if im allways play Smac whitout the CD? however i insert the CD and sent the turn to Chaunk, but it says i have played te turn 2 times, and i have not, just to let you know

It's the CMNing process and the setting up of the factions that changes the tech choices. And yes, Morgan has been affected, as I've already lost my prefered route to IA. Never mind though.
